It’s understandable that vacationers don’t want to waste time and/or money while on their trip–after all, that’s part of why I decided to start this blog in the first place.  The more info you know about your vacation destination prior to your trip , the less likely you will be to waste your time or money.  For those vacationers headed to the Riviera Maya and can’t decide between spending time and money daytripping to Playa del Carmen or Tulum, here’s a video done by Monkey Abroad to help you decide what’s best for you and/or your family.

Now Emerald Closing

I almost forgot to post about this piece of news.  Now Emerald Cancun resort will be closing Aug. 1, 2023 for 10-12 months to do a complete renovation.  It is expected to open summer 2024.  Renovations will consist of a new building housing 118 new guest rooms, adding a theater, gym, and steakhouse restaurant, and completely renovating pretty much everything else on the property.  I anticipate there will be no major changes to the main pool area, perhaps just retiling since everything else will be updated.

Looking For An Awesome Techno Music Festival?

If you love techno music, then perhaps you already know about the famous (infamous) Afterlife electronic music festival.  It is now a worldwide event with annual shows in Barcelona, Ibiza, and other international destinations including Tulum.  The very first Tulum Afterlife event was held at Zamna cenote in Tulum in 2017, Jan. 4, 2023 was the sixth time the event has been held at the same Tulum location.

There are more videos coming out now about Secrets Impression Isla Mujeres besides showcasing the rooms (although the video posted below also includes a room tour).  After viewing this video done by Marc G I have one question–where’s the waterslide??  My understanding is that there was supposed to be one which traversed from the main level and exited into the ocean by the pier.  So I don’t know if it is not completed yet or just wasn’t included in this video…
