Drone Video of Grand Palladium Riviera Maya

I actually wanted to find a video of how the new resorts are doing which are planning on opening within the next month, but as is typical of this area and new resort info there is not much out there–it’s like resort companies believe they are selling state secrets by giving away some teaser info.

Beach Resort Section at Barcelo to Reopen

Looks like the Beach resort section at the Barcelo Riviera Maya mega-resort will be reopening soon.  It is the last of the six resorts at this location to reopen since being closed due to COVID.  Rumor has it that it will open tomorrow which is sooner than initially posted.

Don’t Expect Lobster on Some Resort Menus…

Riu posted that their resorts, for the time being, will not be serving lobsters, clams, or oysters.  This is being done with respect to an order from the Mexico Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development–from how I understand it, there is a time of year when capturing certain marine life is banned in order to avoid endangering the species overall.  (If someone has a better explanation, please let me know).

Grand Palladium Lobbies On Fire??

FYI:  Not a rumor, it’s been officially verified.

I just read on FB that the lobbies of the Grand Palladium Kantenah and Colonial  in the Riviera Maya are on fire and guests are being evacuated to the beach….right now this is just a rumor, I will post more if it becomes available.

Another All-Inclusive Optional Resort–Krystal Grand Punta Cancun

No, I didn’t already recently post about this AI-optional resort–that was the Krystal Cancun.  This is its family-friendly “sister resort” right next door to the north and it’s called Krystal Grand Punta Cancun.  It has also been known in the past as Reflect, while some third party wholesalers may currently list this resort as Krystal Grand Cancun, or even  “Altitude By Krystal Grand Punta Cancun” which refers to certain upgraded room types (Altitude rooms).  It’s all the same resort, but it can be confusing.

Another All-Inclusive Optional–Grand Residences Riviera Cancun

Here’s another all-inclusive optional resort to highlight–Grand Residences Riviera Cancun near Puerto Morelos in the Riviera Maya.  This one is an all-inclusive optional surprise since it’s a member of the Leading Hotels of the World.  Most highly acclaimed resorts in this area of Mexico are totally outside the all-inclusive market, were originally an all-inclusive resort, or have fully moved over to the all-inclusive market.  If you want to know its specific location, it is just south of the Puerto Morelos Marina and Now Jade resort with easy access to excursions leaving from the marina.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort Openings and Other Resort Tidbits…

I just read that Barcelo has decided to reopen some of their other resorts in their mega-resort complex, Barcelo Maya Grand Resort.  While the adults-only Maya Riviera and the family-friendly Palace sections have been open for awhile, the resort recently reopened the Colonial section.  The Tropical section is set to reopen this Friday, May 7, while the Caribe section is looking to reopen in June (no set date yet, I imagine the resort wants to see what the demand will be with the opened resorts).  No word yet on when the Beach section will reopen, however.  This is a great mega-resort, I have been there twice and stayed at the Caribe in a swim-up then moved over to the Palace on one vacation; the other I stayed at the new adults-only section.  Don’t hesitate to book the resort, you can snorkel with sea turtles over at the Palace during the morning and snooze in a poolside or beach lounger in the afternoon.
