Someone brought this to my attention so I thought I would bring it to yours just in case you don’t know…Riu Cancun has changed from a family-friendly resort to an adults-only property; that change occurred Dec. 24, 2024. That means there are two adults-only Riu’s right next to one another in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, and three total in the Hotel Zone’s entirety–Riu Cancun, Riu Palace Las Americas, and Riu Palace Kukulkan.

I debated whether or not to post this, but as long as there are numerous reportings of this incident at an all-inclusive resort I thought it needed to be shared.
Sandos Playacar is in the news due to a suspected “mass food poisoning” incident which occurred on resort grounds several days ago. This incident reportedly affected approximately 300 guests and staff with some adults and children needing to be hospitalized. By the time the authorities heard about it and arrived at the scene, all supposed evidence of the incident had been removed so the resort only received a small fine.
I think it’s best to stay away from this Sandos property right now…I can’t tell you what to do concerning your vacation but if I had upcoming reservations to this resort I would cancel them and rebook somewhere else. I would only think of staying at this property when there were no more reported incidents in social media of guests being sick.

There’s a new video out on Secrets Moxche, a beautiful adults-only all-inclusive resort located just north of Playa del Carmen. I stayed at this resort in 2022 and already wrote a resort review about it, you can read it by clicking this link.
The new video is done by one of my favorite vloggers, 3 Days 3 Noches, and she does a great job (as usual) of highlighting everything the resort has to offer.

Life and Travel has posted a second video showing more of this brand new resort which just opened–Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres. Looks like the spa isn’t completely open yet, but it’s not unusual for new resorts to open their doors with some amenities not completely done.

Today’s the day!! Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres is opening as scheduled and the resort looks beautiful…Excellence already has photos of the property on their Instagram account so check them out before the videos are posted on You Tube…
So who’s going?
Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita recently reopened after being closed since Dec. 2023 for a complete renovation and transition to a Marriott property. The resort is now called Paraiso de la Bonita Riviera Maya, and is part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection.
It is now adults-only with new check-in/check-out hours (4 p.m. check-in and 11 a.m. check-out). There are supposed to be four restaurants but the Marriott website only currently lists three so one may still be closed, and three bars. All 100 suites are oceanfront. There is a gym, spa (the spa will be completely open summer 2025), and two pools–the beachfront main pool and the heated saltwater pool at the spa.
So who’s planning on staying at this newly renovated boutique resort?
