Hello, I’m booked at Allegro Playacar in June, but received a message saying they’ll be closed and we can stay at Barceló Maya Palace instead, I’ve never been to Cancun/Playa Del Carmen, do you think one is better than the other? For a young couple’s first time visiting the area is there a couple of hotels you’d recommend either in Cancun/Playa Del Carmen/Tulum that you like best? Thank you!
The Palace is definitely an upgrade from this four star resort. It is part of a megaresort, Barcelo Maya Grand resort, and the entire beach area is approximately two miles long. Ocean in front of the Palace has good snorkeling for turtles, smoother ocean bottom at the other end of the resort. I’d go for it, stay with the Palace.
