Rooftop Suite Series–ESTUDIO Playa Mujeres Inspira Rooftop Suite

I was somewhat surprised when I found out that ESTUDIO Playa Mujeres allowed young children to stay in a rooftop suite–my children are grown but I cannot stop evaluating spaces in terms of safety issues for kids!  I guess it’s a habit I will never outgrow.  Watch the video below and judge for yourself, but in my own personal opinion I would not book this suite if I had children under 13 (I would also sleep with one eye open with young kids in this suite thinking they might want to wander up there by themselves…).  The resort website does recommend that children under the age of 12 be closely supervised when they are up in the rooftop area, but why stress yourself out on vacation when it can be avoided?

This post may be a bit convoluted, but then Ocean Riviera Paradise has a fairly complex set-up as an all-inclusive.

Rooftop Suite Series–Jr. Suite Rooftop Oceanfront at Iberostar Selection Cancun

If you are looking to stay at a resort in Cancun’s Hotel Zone which offers a rooftop suite AND is located fairly close to the airport (about a 15-20 min. drive), check out the Coral level upgrade at the  Iberostar Selection Cancun.  The adults-only Coral level is a separate 13-story tower on the north side of the Iberostar Selection Cancun; it opened in 2018 and offers 156 guest rooms of its own, three additional bars, one additional restaurant, a private pool with swim-up bar, and a private beach area just for Coral level guests.  Rooftop suites can only be found at this resort in the Coral level upgrade.

Rooftop Suite Series–Hard Rock Riviera Maya Rock Suite Platinum Rooftop Lounge Two Bedroom With Personal Assistant

Here’s another all-inclusive resort which will give you a rooftop terrace to enjoy…The Hard Rock Riviera Maya resort is located a one hr. and 20 min. drive south of the Cancun airport.  It has two sections–the adults-only side (Heaven), and the family-friendly side (Hacienda).  For anyone who is familiar with the Hard Rock brand, you know that this resort offers all kinds of cool amenities including music experiences (the Music Lab which gives guests the opportunity to try out what it’s like to be a DJ or play in a band), the Woodward facilities which give guests the opportunity to participate in action sports such as BMX bike riding or skateboarding, and a nightclub which includes a pool–don’t forget to bring your swimsuit…

Rooftop Suite Series–Akumal Bay Resort Jr. Suite Penthouse

I’m glad this resort has changed names again because Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort was just too much of a mouthful at one time.  Look for this resort to now be called Akumal Bay Resort (much better); however, online wholesalers are still referring to it by its older convoluted name–ABBWR.  If you know the history of this resort, it used to be called Akumal Beach Resort, then did a renovation top to bottom and reopened in 2014 with a completely new look.

Rooftop Suite Series–The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Penthouse Suites

Some of you may remember this resort as The Fives Azul Beach Resort when Karisma used to manage it–the resort owners wanted to manage it themselves (actually, all of their own resorts) and took over this task in Oct. 2019.  As a result of the change, there have been some changes, some small, some not so small in all their resorts.  From my current understanding of how this resort family is set up, the all-inclusive plan may not be a given anymore since some of their properties have options of accommodations only, a breakfast plan only, and an “all senses inclusive plan” which is more like what everyone associates with an all-inclusive plan.  So, just a heads up when booking to make sure you have booked an all-inclusive plan (All Senses Inclusive) if that’s the way you want to travel.
