Choosing Your Room Location At Blue Diamond Resorts…

This is just an FYI blog post, some or many of you may already know about it but I thought I would post the info for those who don’t have a clue (like myself) that this ability exists.

Want Another Resort Water Park Option?

There’s been a lot of hype about the huge water park at the new Nickelodeon Riviera Maya.  The only catch is the price one has to pay to stay there–$5,500 for two adults in the off season of January in a basic king room (no airfare)…not everyone can afford that kind of price tag.

Want A Resort Idea Close to Xcaret Park?

Xcaret Park is one of the most popular parks to see in the Riviera Maya.  While there are many all-inclusive resorts that are located within a short drive of the resort, there are only two (plus two more with the new Hotel Xcaret Arte and as yet to be completed La Casa de la Playa) which have direct access to this park.

Don’t Forget Club Med…

I think that some travelers forget there is a Club Med in Cancun.  Especially with all the new and renovated resorts with their “bells and whistles” , older and more established resorts like the Club Med chain may pale in comparison and become lower on travel wish lists.

Maroma Beach is the Treatment of Choice For Beach Withdrawal…

Attention travelers, if you have an acute case of beach withdrawal like I do right now, there is a cure–well, at least a temporary one.  Fly to Cancun and visit Maroma Beach in the Riviera Maya, it’s only about a 40-min. drive south of the Cancun airport.  Maroma Beach has won accolades from various travel media sources–the Travel Channel thought it noteworthy enough to put it within the top 10 spot in the World’s Best Beaches category several years running.

Drone Video of Grand Palladium Riviera Maya

I actually wanted to find a video of how the new resorts are doing which are planning on opening within the next month, but as is typical of this area and new resort info there is not much out there–it’s like resort companies believe they are selling state secrets by giving away some teaser info.

New Drone Video of Playacar Beach

I love Playacar Beach, it’s one of my favorites in the Riviera Maya.  For those of you who don’t know where it’s located, it’s in a gated community just south of Playa del Carmen (the beach can also be accessed by walking south on the beach from Playa del Carmen).  Very swimmable with minor wave action overall, within walking distance to Playa del Carmen (and only a 6-8 min. cab ride from Riu resorts), a smaller shopping area across the road from Riu Palace Mexico/Riu Yucatan, and the gated community makes vacationers feel safer in terms of walking in the area.

What’s Your Impression of Catalonia Royal Tulum?

Has anyone stayed at this resort?  If my Kauai vacation doesn’t work out for May I am thinking of booking Catalonia Royal Tulum for a larger group of individuals.  Seems pretty low key but in a great jungle setting with a beautiful beach (Xpu-Ha).  Just down the road from Barcelo Riviera Maya mega-resort with nearby cenotes.  Anyone been to Coba ruins leaving from this area of the Riviera Maya?  I’ve been to Chichen Itza and want to climb a pyramid this time.  Juan (my new go-to private driver for vacation excursions from FriendsTravelCancun) tells me he can take my party anywhere in Cancun and the Riviera Maya so I will be using him for transport as needed.

Don’t forget to follow my Instagram account, allinclusivegal, as I travel later this week to Atelier Playa Mujeres.  Afterwards I will be staying at Riu Palace Peninsula, so it’s a two-fer.

Ik-Kil Cenote Video

I’ve been on a cenote binge lately.  Here’s a short video of one of the most famous cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula, Ik-Kil Cenote which is close to Chichen Itza.   If you’re doing it independently,  be sure to get there early because some Chichen Itza tours plan an afternoon stopover at Ik-Kil.
