Xibalba Nature Reserve to Open 2022

The latest Xcaret attraction, Xibalba Nature Reserve, was originally scheduled to open Dec. 2020 but got delayed due to COVID.  Its latest opening date is supposed to be sometime in June 2022 with a capacity reported to be 2,000 visitors.  Xibalba is located by the city of Valladolid in the central part of the Yucatan Peninsula fairly close to the Chichen Itza ruins.  In fact, many Chichen Itza tours include a stop at Valladolid either before or after visiting the ruins.  Count on tours or private drives to take a couple of hours from Playa del Carmen to reach this destination.

Gorgeous Suites at La Casa de la Playa

Here’s a quick video of an example of the beautiful suites at the brand new La Casa de la Playa in the Riviera Maya.  This boutique resort has only 63 suites and is located next to Hotel Xcaret Arte which just opened several months ago.  While the resort’s website still states that the opening date for La Casa de la Playa occurred on Dec. 13, 2021, I’m still not positive that its doors are currently open for business.  I will do more checking to find out and post another resort video tomorrow.

A Quick Synopsis of Hotel Xcaret Arte

Want a very quick review of Hotel Xcaret Arte?  The video below is one of the best short videos (and in English) that I’ve seen of this adults-only (age 16+) resort.  Arte is so similar to its sister resort, Hotel Xcaret Mexico, a resort which I absolutely loved, I would expect this new one to be every bit as exquisite.

Here’s a Newer Video of the Brand New Breathless Cancun Soul

I’m back from my impromptu cruise vacation visiting Costa Rica and the Panama Canal–I’ve never been to those locations before and needed a break so why not?  The cruise was just what I needed–use the at home Abbott tests, they are easy to administer and you get COVID results in 15 minutes (most cruise lines these days require a negative COVID test up to 2 days prior to sailing).  I had an extra test so I used it when I got home and the results were negative–no bringing home COVID from my cruise.

Opening of First Wyndham Alltra in the Riviera Maya

Wyndham has opened its first Alltra all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya.  It used to be a Panama Jack resort before the buyout, so it’s not a brand new build.  It has a perfect location in Playa de Carmen–just on the south edge of famous 5th Ave for shopping, dining, bars, and nightlife, and walking distance to the Cozumel ferry.

How to Save Money at the Beginning of Your All-Inclusive Stay…

At last, I finalized my resort list for my upcoming April trip to Cancun. I got tired of paying a lot of money just to sleep at an expensive resort my first vacation day, so I decided to look into a much cheaper alternative.  I fly into Cancun from the west coast, so my entire first travel day is just that–travel.  On any given trip to Cancun I typically fly in around 5 or so, and there goes the whole day once I’m settled into my room.
