How to Save Money at the Beginning of Your All-Inclusive Stay…

At last, I finalized my resort list for my upcoming April trip to Cancun. I got tired of paying a lot of money just to sleep at an expensive resort my first vacation day, so I decided to look into a much cheaper alternative.  I fly into Cancun from the west coast, so my entire first travel day is just that–travel.  On any given trip to Cancun I typically fly in around 5 or so, and there goes the whole day once I’m settled into my room.

While I definitely don’t want to check into a Holiday Inn while in Cancun, I researched much more affordable all-inclusive resort stays and found the following gem.  Since I enjoyed my last Catalonia Royal Tulum stay in July 2021, I decided to look into Catalonia Playa Maroma, a three plus star property with a fantastic beach.  The resort sits on Maroma Beach which, at one time, had been voted by the Travel Channel as being one of the best beaches not just in Mexico but in the world.  If I remember correctly, this Catalonia property sits next to Secrets Maroma–I would easily pay 3-4 times the price difference if I were to stay there.  I got a great deal, 2 nights with an online sale plus my additional discount using my Catalonia rewards program.  That way I could ease my way into the vacation and not scowl at the thought of spending a lot just to have dinner and go to bed.  Here’s my April 2022 resort itinerary:  Catalonia Playa Maroma for 2 nights, then off to Haven Riviera Cancun for 4 nights and some ultra luxury pampering, then off to Planet Hollywood Cancun in the Adult Scene section for 4 more nights with a party vibe ending.  Can’t wait.

Check out the video below; it’s done by Catalonia so expect there to be emphasis on better rooms and spa pics.  But it gives a fairly good idea of what the resort looks like as a whole.  Hope the sargassum cooperates; I’d hate to feel robbed again of missing out on a great beach…
