Resorts For Larger Families

I’ve had some requests for more information concerning family-friendly resorts, and in particular, resorts which can cater to larger families.  So here’s my attempt to help some readers focus on specific resorts which can do just that.  The resorts listed below are geared towards handling families of five or more, some even have connecting bedrooms.  Information is divided into two sections, the Cancun Hotel Zone/Playa Mujeres/Costa Mujeres area and the Riviera Maya.

Another Source for Sargassum Info

If you belong to Facebook you might want to visit the page entitled “Sargasso Seaweed Updates Riviera Maya”.  It’s a closed group, but you can ask to join–there are frequent beach pics of various areas in the Riviera Maya and elsewhere in Quintana Roo from vacationers currently visiting at the time of the post.  Hope this helps!

Drone Video of the Hotel Zone

Just for fun–found a drone video of part of Cancun’s Hotel Zone.  The drone didn’t make it as far south as the Westin, and also didn’t travel over the northern part of the Hotel Zone, but it was fun to take another peek at all the resort’s along the east side of the Zone.

A New Suite Review at The Fives

Larger families and groups traveling together often have a difficult time finding all-inclusives which can accommodate their entire party while allowing for sufficient space for everyone involved.  The Fives Azul Beach Resort Playa del Carmen is a perfect choice to meet these specifications–suites come in a variety of bedrooms, from the standard type of room to three-bedroom suites with rooftop space.  This resort is located close to Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya which also makes it easy to shop in Playa, take excursions to the many wonderful cenotes and parks in the Riviera Maya, or just stay on-site and enjoy what the resort has to offer.  Karisma has spent over $40 million on renovations during the last several years which has included new guest room buildings, additional restaurants, a new Plaza area where guests can meet and mingle, and has also pumped sand into the ocean in their attempt to make a smoother ocean entry.

Another Suite Review–UNICO 2087 Alcoba Oceanfront

Time for another suite review, on this occasion from the adults-only UNICO 2087 in the Riviera Maya.  This is a five-star property and also a member of the Leading Hotels of the World (LHW); the resort has additional accolades including Travel and Leisure’s ranking of #7 out of 15 in the category of best Mexico Resort Hotels, in addition to ranking #3 in Conde Nast’s Reader’s Choice Awards in the category of best resorts in Eastern Mexico.  The 2087 in its name comes from the resort’s latitude and longitude coordinates.
