Paradisus Playa Mujeres Out, SLS Playa Mujeres In…
I’ve been wondering for several years what was to become of Paradisus Playa Mujeres. I parasailed over it, read about it, saw pics and videos about it, but it never seemed to officially open. While I don’t know exactly what happened behind the scenes, it looks like Meliá has sold this property (it is no longer advertised as a Meliá property on their website), and instead this resort will open Nov. 15, 2024, as SLS Playa Mujeres.
Is AVA Almost Ready For June 1?
Is the brand new property AVA Resort Cancun ready to open on June 1, 2024 as advertised? From the brief video below is looks pretty close to being done on the exterior; if it’s like many new resorts there’s usually several amenities that won’t be open on their opening date.

Another Live Webcam at the New Royal Uno
Royal Resorts added another resort/beach webcam at their new family-friendly all-inclusive, Royal Uno. I like this one because you can see a lot of the actual resort property in addition to what the beach conditions generally look like.
Garza Blanca Cancun To Celebrate Grand Opening
The new family-friendly, luxury all-inclusive optional resort, Garza Blanca Resort and Spa Cancun, is about to celebrate its Grand Opening next month. This Playa Mujeres property, which is located just south of its sister resort, Villa del Palmar, had its “soft opening” last December with the availability of only 162 suites and several of its restaurants and pools. What Does the New Catalonia Costa Mujeres Look Like?
Here’s a look at the brand new Catalonia Costa Mujeres. While the video primarily features drone shots of the property, there are some pics of restaurants and guest rooms. The video also offers a brief side shot of what I believe to be the new Planet Hollywood which is still being built.
For Those Interested in the Rebranded Now Emerald Cancun…
Now Emerald Cancun used to be called Grand Oasis Sens–it is located on the east side of the “7” in the Hotel Zone. While some renovations were made, the resort itself looks very similar with cosmetic changes and re-naming of public spaces. The resort opened with its re-branded name in June 2019 and is fully operational at this point.
