Outstanding Swim-Ups–Flamingo Cancun Resort, A Low Budget Option

Here’s a swim-up option for those vacationers on a budget.  You can still go to Cancun and stay in a swim-up suite without paying a fortune or going into debt.  Cancun’s Hotel Zone has a great budget vacation option, Flamingo Cancun Resort.  This family-friendly resort is located about a 20-min. drive north of the Cancun airport, and slightly over a mile from the popular La Isla Mall in the Hotel Zone.  I put this resort in my “outstanding swim-up” list because most of these swim-ups are right on the beach, have ocean views (some room’s ocean views are partially obstructed by thick vegetation and palm/coconut trees), plus you have easy access to malls and the Party Zone in Cancun’s Hotel Zone.

Curious About the Differences Between Excellence Resorts?

I think that the Excellence brand is one of the best when it comes to all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya in Mexico.  Two of the most popular resorts in these areas are Excellence Playa Mujeres (EPM) and Excellence Riviera Cancun (ERC).  Both are highly ranked in TripAdvisor review ratings, and both deliver a quality of customer service which earns many repeat guests.

Rooftop Suite Series–Jr. Suite Rooftop Oceanfront at Iberostar Selection Cancun

If you are looking to stay at a resort in Cancun’s Hotel Zone which offers a rooftop suite AND is located fairly close to the airport (about a 15-20 min. drive), check out the Coral level upgrade at the  Iberostar Selection Cancun.  The adults-only Coral level is a separate 13-story tower on the north side of the Iberostar Selection Cancun; it opened in 2018 and offers 156 guest rooms of its own, three additional bars, one additional restaurant, a private pool with swim-up bar, and a private beach area just for Coral level guests.  Rooftop suites can only be found at this resort in the Coral level upgrade.

What’s New At Palmaia House of AiA?

I’ve always been curious about this resort and what guests experience while staying at Palmaia House of AiA.  It’s touted as being the equivalent of staying in Tulum at an all-inclusive resort with a great beach.  (This would appeal to vacationers who enjoy all-inclusives but know that Tulum proper only has one all-inclusive with a lousy beach).  I walked past this resort when it was almost complete and swam in the water, so I know where it is located as well as what the environs are like. If you know where Sandos Playacar is, this resort is the very last one on this southern stretch of Playacar Beach.   As long as the sargassum is under control, Playacar Beach is one of the most beautiful and lengthy stretches of beach in the Riviera Maya.  The resort has tried to retain a natural appearance to the beach area with some mild sand dunes and natural flora remaining; daybeds abound and are cordoned off from the rest of the beach so there is plenty of space for walking or playing on the beach.

How About This For a Rooftop Suite?

I have mixed feelings about rooftop suites.  On one hand, they can be such a great way to get a bird’s eye view of the resort as well as an increased possibility of getting an ocean view even though one hasn’t booked something oceanfront.  On the other hand, I would hesitate booking a rooftop suite during the height of summer because of the need to limit daytime use of the space–rooftop suites, unless they have great shade built into the rooftop area, can be incredibly hot during Mexico summers.

Wanna See the Water Park Areas at Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun?

When Hyatt took over Secrets Silversands, they not only renovated the resort but they also added a water park.  The water park is comprised of two sections–one for little ones with smaller waterslides, and the other section with lengthier waterslides for both kids and adults.  The water park is located on the south side of the resort.
