Planet Hollywood Cancun has finally opened, but it looks like it’s off to a slow start. There appears to be only one a la carte open (probably due to low occupancy), in-room liquor dispensers are empty, beers don’t appear to be in the mini-fridges yet (see video below), while I read that the spa, convention center, and one a la carte restaurant are still being finished.
While I’m not exactly a spa-type person, I do appreciate a beautifully designed, serene space. The spa at Dreams Natura is just such a space. It is innovative in that this spa includes several areas and amenities that are not typically included in your all-inclusive resort spa experience. I’ve started to upload some of my resort videos from my latest trip to both Dreams Natura and Dreams Riviera Cancun. This one is a quick look at why people may have been reading some poor resort reviews concerning Dreams Natura. Yes, there is a massive mangrove jungle next to Dreams Natura and the Senator all-inclusive resort next door (the Senator is still under construction); the resorts here are quite a ways off the main road so the mangrove jungle is quite extensive.
For those of you following/interested in the construction of the newest Riu resort in Cancun, news has it that it has been indefinitely halted.
For those of you familiar with the newest Royalton resort, Royalton Suites Cancun which is located in the Hotel Zone, please be aware that this resort will be changing to adults-only when it reopens on Oct. 29, 2020. Its new name will be Royalton CHIC Suites Cancun Resort and Spa.
The last time I posted a video of Dreams Natura, I believe it still was listed under its previous name, Now Natura, with several of its major amenities not completed. Now that it is reopened, there are new videos coming out showing the resort in its entirely with new amenities completed (water slides, lazy river, and rollglider).
Here’s a look at the brand new Catalonia Costa Mujeres. While the video primarily features drone shots of the property, there are some pics of restaurants and guest rooms. The video also offers a brief side shot of what I believe to be the new Planet Hollywood which is still being built.
I’ll admit, I don’t know much about this new resort, Palmaïa House of AïA, which opened Dec. 2019. I do know exactly where it’s located, though, because I walked down to this beach area Aug. 2019 when I stayed at Iberostar Tucan. This resort is located just south of Sandos Playacar in the gated community of Playacar. Obviously the resort wasn’t finished yet when I saw it from a distance, but from what I did observe it was on a pristine stretch of Playacar beach with many rooms having oceanfront views. That’s a great start in and of itself.
