For those of you following/interested in the construction of the newest Riu resort in Cancun, news has it that it has been indefinitely halted.
Don’t count on Riu Palace Riviera Cancun, located at 21.5 Km. in the Hotel Zone (reportedly by the Club Med), to be built any time soon. There are serious issues standing in its way including destruction of the environment and insufficient infrastructure to deal with sanitation.
Holly crap. Does RIU need yet another resort in the Cancun/riviera maya/mujeres area. They already have like 15000 resorts in the area. With the Covid and Sargassum problems I’m shocked that they just keep on pumping out resorts.
Lol, we will probably not see this one completed at all. I don’t understand why resort companies don’t research these factors prior to land purchase, maybe they just figure they will financially muscle their way through and get it built anyway.
