Now here’s a family-friendly luxury all-inclusive optional resort you don’t see advertised that much–at least, I don’t. Garza Blanca Cancun is located at the beginning of the Playa Mujeres area north of downtown Cancun; it’s right next to Villa del Palmar, another all-inclusive optional resort, and guests of Garca Blanca Cancun have access to Villa del Palmar so you have a stay at one play at two resort experience.
I found a video done by popular YouTube creator, “Coolist” (aka James Williams) regarding tips on saving money when booking your vacation (and who doesn’t want to do that…). Nice to hear that I’m already doing some of his suggestions, interesting to hear about the ones I am not.
For those of you interested in what the beach actually looks like at the new family-friendly AVA Cancun, here’s recent drone footage done by My Trip Coach Kaley. While the resort is now open, note that there are no loungers on the beach, so beach setup whatsoever.
FYI: As of 11/16/24, Marriott has listed the projected opening timeline to be Jan. 2025; however, I was unable to make a booking in either Jan. or Feb. 2025, so it may be after Jan. 2025 before the resort reopens.

AVA Resort Cancun did open on time on June 1, 2024. (Sorry I didn’t post info sooner but I was busy doing my grandma thing). Opening on time is a surprise given the size of the resort with 1,700 guest rooms. Below is a video highlighting interior/exterior spaces which are open; the video is done by Vincent Vacations. It is unknown at this point in time what is still being completed, so I will post as that info becomes available.
Is the brand new property AVA Resort Cancun ready to open on June 1, 2024 as advertised? From the brief video below is looks pretty close to being done on the exterior; if it’s like many new resorts there’s usually several amenities that won’t be open on their opening date.
While Hyatt decided to postpone Secrets Playa Mujeres 2024 renovations, it’s now on again, this time for 2025.
I found this great video of the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres which is easily reached from Cancun’s Hotel Zone. It’s great for a day trip if you are staying in Cancun or the Playa Mujeres/Costa Mujeres areas since there are multiple ferry piers to take people over to the island. You also have the option of booking a catamaran excursion which will take you to Isla Mujeres in addition to providing snorkeling opportunities plus an open bar and lunch from your catamaran.
