Here’s a recent drone video of the shared properties of Catalonia Riviera Maya and Catalonia Yucatan Beach Resorts. I like how it gives a better perspective of the rocky coastline so that vacationers can decide, especially if they are beach lovers, whether this is the right property to book or not. Take a look!
If you haven’t checked out the Barcelo mega-resort in the Riviera Maya lately, you may be surprised at all of the changes that have taken place in the last two years. Here’s a bird’s-eye view of some of those changes–take a look!
I wonder if this will be the new trend in aqua exercise at all the resorts or just the upscale ones. I first discovered the aqua bikes at Secrets Akumal in November, then read that Valentin Imperial Maya and Secrets Silversands also have the same equipment. Does anyone else know if any other resorts have started this exercise program? Let me know!

My Riu Playacar walk-through video has been up for awhile on YouTube, but I thought I’d post it since some readers may not visit that site with regularity. Take a look–here’s what the new renovations look like.
The newly renovated Riu Playacar has already made some changes since its reopening the fall of 2015. Due to the popularity of its main buffet, The Palms, a la carte reservations are no longer required for either the steakhouse or Jade. There is a new a la carte restaurant which shares space with the steakhouse and it serves Mexican cuisine. Reservations are not required for this restaurant either. You just need to show up. Another reason to like this resort–no standing in another line just to put your name on a list with a set dinner time. Just show up–can’t get more easy than that.
Finest Playa Mujeres recently added a new a la carte, Surf & Turf. That makes a total of nine a la cartes for dining options. Dress is “elegant”, but it doesn’t say specifically “adults-only” on the website. There are gluten-free and healthy dining choices on the menu. I love most drone resort videos. They gave the best overall perspective and let me know ahead of time whether I think I can handle the size of a resort, its setting (too much jungle/too isolated), or whether I think I will enjoy the beach.
