Breathless properties have a reputation as being a more upgraded party resort for adults. Sure, there are well-known Cancun party resort locations, but just how much of a party resort are we talking about at Breathless Cancun Soul…spring break type of party like Grand Oasis Cancun in March, older adult type of party like Riu Palace Las Americas, risqué type of party like Temptations Cancun, or something in between?

English speaking videos are slow to come out for the brand new Majestic Mirage Costa Mujeres, but I found a video which is done in Spanish which highlights a lot of what this resort has to offer families and adults.
I literally was shocked the other day when I discovered that the infamous resort name brand “Conrad” currently has an all-inclusive optional meal plan in place until the end of 2026 at Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya (some past reports claim it ends by Nov. 1, 2026, while other sources state that it ends by Jan. 1, 2027). Conrad Hotels (and now Resorts) has always been synonymous with luxury details and accommodations, great food, and upscale everything. There are still vacationers who would never expect Conrad to offer an all-inclusive plan because they still associate all-inclusive resorts to have bad food, weak drinks, “less than” everything in comparison. Some of that may be true at select resorts, but the last several years there definitely has been an upswing in select all-inclusive resorts offering Michelin star chefs, luxury stays, and the most updated amenities for their guests. My guess is the Conrad is doing a test run to see how financially successful they are with the temporary addition of the meal plan and decide from there whether they are going to extend it further, perhaps make it a permanent addition, or cancel it and go back to making it a totally European meal plan like before.
For those of you who don’t already know, El Dorado all-inclusive resorts are adults-only and each one has its own vibe. As is true for all resort bookings at any property, you need to know what you’re stepping into (literally as well as knowledge of amenities) in order to have the best vacation experience.
I get quite a few emails asking for my advice about choosing to stay at either the new Excellence or the new Secrets properties in the Playa Mujeres/Costa Mujeres area north of downtown Cancun. Secrets Playa Blanca and Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres are both fairly new adults-only properties geared towards a couples’ vacation, but how does one choose between the two?
Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres opened Feb. 12, 2025, and since then there have been questions about whether or not to book this luxury adults-only resort–it’s not exactly cheap and right now there are more than enough adults-only luxury resorts in the Playa Mujeres/Costa Mujeres part of Mexico from which to choose.

This resort is for families but it does have an adults-only section–you have to use the spa next door at the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres property, however.
For those of you interested in the brand new Ocean Allure Costa Mujeres, I found a lengthy but comprehensive video about this resort with an emphasis on upgraded Privilege amenities. (And by the way, my upcoming reservation is for a Privilege room, so the info was helpful in understanding just what is available with this upgrade).
Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun, not to be confused with Iberostar Selection Cancun which is located in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, recently opened its doors after a rather lengthy period of being in limbo after a guest death when it was a Karisma resort. TAFER bought it and put $ in it, but rather quickly sold it to Iberostar who put some more $ in it and opened its door to families and adult vacationers alike in late 2025.
