Surprise, surprise, surprise, (not), Secrets Mirabel Cancun’s opening has been delayed until Nov. 15, 2025. While the resort will (supposedly) be open then, the spa will not be done until Feb./March 2026.

Detailed Info About The New Secrets Mirabel…
An update here concerning the brand new Secrets Mirabel which was scheduled to open Oct. 2025 but now has been postponed until sometime in Nov. 2025 (I swear the new Secrets and Dreams resorts are NEVER open on time). Since there is no set date in Nov. I would be willing to bet that they won’t be open until early Dec. 2025 or even Jan. 2026 if things go really south. The spa won’t be available for use until Feb. 2026.
Finally, A Good Video Highlighting Paraiso de la Bonita’s Renovations
Paraiso de la Bonita, formerly Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita (and now a Marriott resort), had their Grand Opening Jan. 2025, and since then I’ve been searching for a good video to post which highlighted the massive renovations the resort has supposedly made. This is the best one I could find so far, and happy to post it for those who want to know what the resort now looks like.
Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya Announces New Ocean View Suite Category!
The beautiful adults-only Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya resort has just announced that they are now offering a true ocean view suite category that also includes a private plunge pool. It’s right on the beach and there are only 36 of them including ground floor and top floor suites.
What’s Taking Now Emerald’s Place in Cancun……
Remember Now Emerald? It closed early 2024 for an extensive renovation by Hyatt and will be open Oct. 2025 as (drum roll)…Secrets Mirabel Cancun.
Interested in Hotel Xcaret Mexico’s Newest Resort Section?
I’ve stayed at both Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Hotel Xcaret Arte and believe me they are among the best of the best when it comes to all-inclusive resort choices in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Hotel Xcaret Mexico just underwent a $700 million renovation and made the resort twice as large as it was with lots of new amenities for families (the Arte property is ages 16+ while the Mexico property is family-friendly).
Hotel Xcaret Mexico’s Renovations Double Its Size And Offerings…
Hotel Xcaret Mexico is a pretty wonderful family-friendly luxury resort. It not only is a stunning looking property, but it offers great food and Hotel Xcaret’s All-Fun Inclusive Program which means you get free airport transportation (to and from), free admission to select local parks (plus transportation there and back), and free select excursions–I had a wonderful trip to Chichén Itzá during my resort stay and I didn’t spend an extra dime.
Bahia Principe Adding Adults-Only Section To Coba Resort…
Bahia Principe is spending over $133 million on renovations to various properties in 2025, and that includes adding an adults-only section to their family-friendly Bahia Principe Grand Coba resort in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Grand Coba is part of a mega-resort property consisting of Bahia Principe Grand Tulum, Grand Coba, Luxury Akumal, and Luxury Sian Ka’an. The new section is called Bahia Principe Grand Tequila.
Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun Is Now A Tafer Resort…
I guess it’s really no surprise, but Karisma dumped their Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun property 2024 after the horrific electrocution death of a guest in one of the resort’s hot tubs. It’s now a Tafer resort–the deal occurred later on in 2024. The new name is Palmar Beach Resort Riviera Maya. It’s still family-friendly and is being marketed as a multigenerational resort.
Kimpton Tres Rios Now Accepting Reservations for August Stays…Maybe
Remember Hacienda Tres Rios? I’ve almost completely forgotten about this very special all-inclusive resort but that’s because it’s been closed since the end of 2023 for a complete renovation. In Nov. 2024 the resort changed to a Kimpton property (this is Kimpton’s first venture into the all-inclusive market), and Kimpton is under the Playa Resorts umbrella, so you can expect major changes in terms of the renovation. The resort is now called Kimpton Tres Rios, check out the computer generated pics on the resort website to see what it will look like with 7 restaurants, 5 bars, 4 pools, and an adults-only guest room tower or watch the video below done by Life and Travel.
