Marriott Cancun Has A Definite Opening Date…
Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort (formerly known as CasaMagna) is located in Cancun’s Hotel Zone right next to its sister resort, JW Marriott Cancun–the one with the great oceanfront pool but is NOT an all-inclusive resort. Marriott Cancun closed last March for extensive renovations and has gone fully all-inclusive (it used to be an all-inclusive optional property).
Marriott Cancun Omits Firm Reopening Date…
For those of you looking forward to booking and staying at the reimagined Marriott CasaMagna (now called Marriott Cancun), press releases still stay “open early 2024” with no specific reopening date. According to what I’ve read since March 2023 when the resort closed for renovations, it was originally speculated to be open Feb. 15, 2024, but that date has not been set in stone since the website does not list that date. Also, do not confuse this resort from JW Marriott Cancun–Marriott Cancun is right next door to the south in Cancun’s Hotel Zone

What’s The Difference Between Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancun and Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya?
Trying to decide which Hyatt resort to book? You’re not alone, there are plenty of vacationers who are aware that Hyatt now has a firm hold on the all-inclusive market in this part of Mexico–remember the acquisition of all the AMResorts in 2022 from Apple Leisure Group? That means there’s a very good chance you will be booking a Hyatt property on your next trip to Cancun or the Riviera Maya.
Grand Palladium Kantenah Will Reopen With A New Resort Within A Resort…
For those of you who didn’t know (that included myself until I accidentally came across the info), Grand Palladium Kantenah has been closed since April 15, 2023, and is planning on reopening Dec. 15, 2023. The resort has been closed primarily for room refurbishments and the addition of rooms and amenities for the resort chain’s successful Family Selection program. The Family Selection program is considered to be a “resort within a resort” and has already been implemented at both the Costa Mujeres and Puerto Vallarta resort chain locations. Kantenah resort is part of a mega-resort complex also consisting of the adults-only TRS Yucatan (you can read my resort review here), the Colonial, and the White Sand family resorts. It’s a very large mega-resort complex but is very popular with all it has to offer vacationers since all family resort’s amenities and services are available to one another. The adults-only section, of course, is only for guests who stay in that particular resort, and the Family Selection will only be available for upgraded Kantenah guests.
Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal Has Some New Rooms…
New Addition to Palafitos-Overwater Bungalows
Goodbye spa, hello new 2 Bedroom Presidential Overwater Bungalow! The Palafitos overwater bungalow section has gotten rid of its private spa area to make way for their brand new 2 bedroom suite. In case you don’t know the overwater bungalow general layout, it’s shaped like a “T” with regular overwater bungalows nearest the beach on both sides of the pier, and Elite overwater bungalows nearest the end of the pier where the horizontal part of the “T” is…the new bungalow is all the way to the right at the end of the pier.

If you want to stay close to vibrant 5th Ave. in the city of Playa del Carmen while on vacation, check out Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen. This property has fairly recently changed its name twice–Gran Porto became Panama Jacks, and Panama Jacks has now become a Wyndham Alltra property.
