Finest Playa Mujeres recently added a new a la carte, Surf & Turf. That makes a total of nine a la cartes for dining options. Dress is “elegant”, but it doesn’t say specifically “adults-only” on the website. There are gluten-free and healthy dining choices on the menu. I just discovered a drone view of Secrets Akumal on YouTube. Take a look, it’s not too lengthy–it even gives a brief look at the spa courtyard and theater.

The adults-only Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, a five-star luxury all-inclusive resort which just opened its doors Nov. 4, 2015, has a front row seat and easy access to one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Riviera Maya–snorkeling with sea turtles in Akumal Bay.

Although it’s supposedly the big grand opening day for Secrets Akumal, word is that the much awaited day has been postponed due to some last minute work which is being done to the reception area. Guests scheduled to stay at the Akumal are being sent to Secrets Maroma in the meantime. The resort is now scheduled to open Nov. 4. There is already a video which gives viewers an inside peek at different areas of the resort including guest suites and some balcony areas. Have a look, and leave a comment on what you think!

With all the hype about the new Finest Playa Mujeres resort I just had to check it out for myself. Following my visit to the lovely Riu Palace Las Americas I took a 35 min. taxi ride to this new resort–in fact, it’s so new that my taxi driver had to confirm its location with both the Riu doorman as well as the security personnel at the Playa Mujeres gate. Since the resort is located north of downtown Cancun and well out of the Hotel Zone district, my taxi had to go through two security gates–one at the entrance to the Playa Mujeres resort area, and the other more lengthy security check at the entrance to the resort itself. There is a third security checkpoint between the Playa Mujeres and the Finest Resort checkpoints, but this one was still under construction so there were no live personnel to ask me for identification. With the amount of time it took to actually enter the resort, I was beginning to think the queen of England was a guest as well–this is a very secure location, so guests can feel at ease about non-registered individuals roaming the property.
