What’s Up With the Ex-Melody Maker?

I keep seeing on my blog stats that readers still want to know what’s going on with the ex-ME Cancun/ex-Melody Maker resort in Cancun’s Hotel Zone…the answer is that I do not know what’s going on with the much anticipated opening of this resort as the Armar House which is now owned by Marriott.

New Swim-Up Rooms at Flamingo Cancun Resort–A Suite Review

Not every traveler can afford a $5k+ vacation for two for a week at a luxury 5-star resort.  So I’ve decided to do a series of suite reviews in Cancun/Riviera Maya all-inclusive resorts (or all-inclusive optional resorts) which will give you the most “bang for your buck” (vacation dollar/euro/peso, etc.).

The Master Suite at Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun–A Suite Review

Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun resort in the Hotel Zone is part of the impressive Grupo Posadas hotel chain which also runs Live Aqua properties.  If you know anything about Live Aqua resorts, you expect the Condesa Cancun to be something beyond the typical all-inclusive resort experience.  A guest’s stay begins with entering the property under the impressive palapa roof which covers the lobby area (the palapa roof rises up to a height of 118 feet tall).  One’s stay only gets better with the resort’s terraced pools which include cascading waterfalls, multiple poolside Jacuzzis, a beachfront swimup bar and small kid’s water park with slides, a separate beach bar, and varied dining choices including four a la carte restaurants, a sushi bar, poolside grill, ice cream shop, dessert carts, and poolside BBQ’s options.  There is evening entertainment, and both younger children and teens have their own spaces for socializing and scheduled activities.

Live Aqua Cancun Viento Suite Review

Ahhhh, it’s Friday and time for another suite review….I’m highlighting the Viento Suite in one of my favorite all-inclusive resorts, Live Aqua Beach Resort Cancun.  I stayed at Live Aqua during my very first visit to Cancun–I’ve never forgotten the fantastic ocean view from my balcony, the snacks and drinks at the Aqua Club Lounge for upgraded guests, the spa-like aroma of the entire resort, the incredibly friendly service, and the wonderful pools and day beds, all of which have me returning for a second visit in just a couple of weeks.  Live Aqua recently finished a thorough renovation including its guest rooms, so I will be checking out everything to see what these changes look like.

Riu Palace Las Americas Resort Review (Post Renovation)

Ever since the renovations were completed several months ago at Riu Palace Las Americas I have been chomping at the bit to go back and check out what had been added, painted, replaced, removed, and relocated–I wanted to see whether the beautiful resort I had visited several years ago was still basically the same or in what ways it was now different.  Since I had seen the transformations done to Riu Cancun, Riu Playacar, Riu Mexico, and Riu Yucatan, I had some initial trepidation that my beautiful Las Americas with its Mediterranean charm had perhaps turned into a modern day glitzy Vegas palace.
