I guess it’s really no surprise, but Karisma dumped their Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun property 2024 after the horrific electrocution death of a guest in one of the resort’s hot tubs. It’s now a Tafer resort–the deal occurred later on in 2024. The new name is Palmar Beach Resort Riviera Maya. It’s still family-friendly and is being marketed as a multigenerational resort.
Remember Hacienda Tres Rios? I’ve almost completely forgotten about this very special all-inclusive resort but that’s because it’s been closed since the end of 2023 for a complete renovation. In Nov. 2024 the resort changed to a Kimpton property (this is Kimpton’s first venture into the all-inclusive market), and Kimpton is under the Playa Resorts umbrella, so you can expect major changes in terms of the renovation. My son is always good at keeping me apprised of musical venues in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. He just informed me that there will be a rock ‘n roll festival this year in November at the Barcelo Maya Grand mega-resort. It is put on by Rock the Tides, a company that puts on festivals that are a combination of music and vacation experiences typically hosted by all-inclusive resorts. Does the thought of dining on fresh fish cooked to order over open flames appeal to you? It certainly does to me, and nothing better to eat while on vacation. I can remember dining this way while staying in the Greek islands many years ago and jump at the chance to relive the deliciousness of this type of dish when vacationing elsewhere–like in Mexico while staying at an all-inclusive resort, of course.
It’s been about a year since Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres opened its doors to guests, and it looks like things are going incredibly smoothly for such a “young” resort. Even the flora looks great and more mature than what I would expect for a newer resort.
Looks like vacationers interested in a stay at this adults-only luxury resort (Hyatt Zilara Cancun) will have to wait a bit longer for renovations to be completed. The old reopening date was Dec. 2025, now it has been changed to Feb. 1, 2026.
Since I will be staying at an Iberostar mega-resort this summer, I’ve been doing my initial research of this property and came across some newer information about Iberostar resort policies and procedures which may be important to other vacationers as well.
I always like to know more about the resorts at which I will be staying prior to my arrival…it’s part of the fun and anticipation of a resort stay! Plus I don’t want to miss anything important I should be experiencing when I do arrive.

The title says it all, back from my cruise and I’ve already made plans for my next resort vacation in July. That’s so like me, I’m never satisfied unless I’ve got a trip on the planner.
