Finest Playa Mujeres is one of the best family-friendly resorts in the Cancun area. For families of 5, the resort offers a non-upgraded Family Suite, Family Suite With Pool, and an upgraded Finest Club Family Suite. (The Excellence Club at this resort is the adults-only section). These suites only sleep five with a king bed in the living room area, a separate bedroom with 2 twin beds, and a sofa bed in the living room.
Traveling with a large family or maybe doing a multigeneration vacation? Check out The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences, they offer 1-3 bedroom options (Residence, Swim-Up Residence, and Penthouse Residence options). Penthouse Residences are best for multigenerational families with extra rooftop space which is a wonderful area to congregate later on in the day or for breakfast (room service is complimentary and offered 24 hrs). Rooms at this resort have full kitchens but no in-room washers and dryers.
I get quite a few inquiries requesting information about all-inclusive resorts that can accommodate families of 5 or more…Many existing resorts can only comfortably accommodate families of 4 but obviously not all families vacationing together only consist of 2 parents and 2 children–it’s become quite a vacation trend for multigenerational family vacations where there are lots of people wanting to stay together in close proximity to one another.
While I’m all into catamaran sailings when on vacation, I do admit this video really tempts me to take a private sailing trip to the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres from Cancun.

I previously posted a blog article highlighting the generally unknown tax that Cancun airport had decided to enforce regarding bringing multiple electronic devices into Mexico–bringing a laptop and other device like an iPad was taxable (this rule was primarily for international travelers only). Well, the government of Quintana Roo has decided that it does not look good for Cancun as a travel destination to tax international travelers this way so they’ve decided to not enforce this rule after all. One of my favorite vloggers, 3 Days 3 Noches, recently put out a video highlighting a popular family-friendly Cancun resort–Hyatt Ziva Cancun. This resort opened in late 2015 after an extensive renovation (it used to be Dreams Cancun), and quickly became a family-friendly resort favorite.
SLS Playa Mujeres opens mid November 2025. If you were expecting a Paradisus resort, forget it, it’s now an SLS property.
Just read in TripAdvisor that check-in staff is offering new guests an upgrade to the new Indigo section at Dreams Sapphire for $150 USD extra p/night…I’m assuming that means it’s now open for business. Don’t forget with the Indigo upgrade you get access to the adults-only rooftop pool area, access to Indigo room section, but I don’t think the new Seaside restaurant is open yet, the website says “coming soon”. Besides having a few short videos on the resort’s FB page and their Instagram page, there’s not much out yet on social media about guests’ experience in this new section.
