Oceanfront Suite at Barcelo Maya Palace–A Suite Review
Barcelo Maya Palace is just one resort out of six in the mega-resort complex of Barcelo Maya Grand Originally, it was Barcelo’s premiere resort offering in Cancun and the Riviera Maya for many years. It continues to offer excellent food, attentive and friendly customer service, snorkeling for sea turtles right off the beach, a great kid’s water park, and one of the most massive main pools I’ve ever seen at a resort. Guests of the Palace have access to four of the remaining five resorts (the Beach, Caribe, Colonial, and the Tropical); the only resort Palace guests do not have access to is the brand new adults-only Maya Riviera at the other end of the complex. The Palace is not as close to the other resorts as one would think–take the resort shuttle or walk the beachfront walkway to other resort destinations. Taking the beachfront path makes a very relaxing stroll during the evening, especially if the moon is out with the sounds of the waves in the background.

For those of you who’ve visited Xcaret Park, or for those of you who want to visit the park and wonder what the experience will be like during the pandemic, here’s a blog post written by Deborah Iruegas after her park visit. I found it to be informative in terms of what is required of visitors as well as what staff are doing differently in the park.
Private Pool Suite at El Dorada Maroma–A Suite Review
While I have already covered the Overwater Palafitos at EDM in a prior suite review post, I thought I’d highlight a less expensive alternative if you are thinking about booking this resort. Let’s face it, you could drop some very serious cash here ($1600-$2500 USD p/night for two at the palafitos–that’s rack rate), but there are some very lovely rooms at EDM that won’t drain your bank account to that extent.
