FYI: This resort has listed a new opening date of July 2021.
2019-2020 has been and promises to be stellar years for new resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya–there are so many I have lost count. Add a new one to the list, the Senator Riviera Cancun Spa Resort located in Puerto Morelos. The only reason I found this one is because it is located next to the new Now Natura Riviera Cancun which I will be visiting in February,visitors walking the beach keep posting pics of the Senator thinking it’s Now Natura. This resort is scheduled to open April 13, 2020.
This new Senator resort looks like a hit for families who love water park action. From the video (which is re-posted below) it looks like there is a kid’s water park area, adults water park area, plus two lazy rivers (one is adults-only) and a FlowRider–the resort is boasting a total of 14 slides. There’s supposed to be three pools (one is adults-only) and five Jacuzzis as well. Families may also enjoy the proposed bowling alley, mini-golf, and multipurpose sports courts.
Here are some of the other amenities which may help set this resort apart from others:
- Five Michelin star chef in charge of his own a la carte restaurant
- adults-only area
- gym with an ocean view
- Skytop wedding area

Hello John: I don’t represent this or any other resort, so I can make no definitive statement about when or if it will open on time or otherwise. All I do know about this resort is that I stayed next door at Dreams Natura in November 2020 and the Senator was just a cement/construction shell. I cannot imagine it would be open on time in November–I have read the owners are having difficulty with funding its completion. I plan on posting a separate article complete with pics so that readers can see for themselves what it looks like at this point in time. Look for the article later on this week. If I were you I’d pick a different resort for your 3 week stay.
