Want Help In Deciding Which Room To Book At Beloved Playa Mujeres?

If you’ve already decided to book Beloved Playa Mujeres, then you already know you will be staying at one of the best luxury boutique couples only all-inclusive resorts in this part of Mexico.  The question then becomes not where to stay, but which room to book…This may be a difficult decision since the Beloved offers 11 different room categories.  That’s a lot for any property.  So, what’s the difference in these categories?

Beloved Playa Mujeres has 109 guest rooms which are divided into Jr. Suites, Swim-Up Suites, Terrace Suites With Plunge Pool, Casita Suites With Private Pool, Two-Story Casita Suites With Plunge Pool, Penthouse Suites, and the Owner’s Suite.  The first thing to know about the differences between rooms here is that the bedroom and bathroom floor plans are similar for Jr. Suites, Swim-Up Suites, and Terrace Suites, but there are some slight floor plan differences in Casita suites.  Penthouse and the Owner’s Suite have different layouts.  What you should know about rooms in general at this resort is that there is only partial bathroom privacy; bathroom mirrors have no wall behind them and are typically located right above the bed headboard, so that means bathroom activity can be heard and observed by anyone else in the room.  Some suites have showers which have large windows looking out into the bedroom area and beyond, good for enjoying a potentially nice outdoor view but if you want privacy when you shower this could be a big deal.  Here’s a short list of amenities common in all suites:

  • king bed.  This is a couples resort, so king beds are usually important for couples on vacation together.
  • round indoor Jacuzzi for two.  These Jacuzzis have access from within the room along with outdoor views via large windows.
  • large showers with rain showerheads, a handheld, plus 3 separate body jets
  • terrace/balcony daybed along with table and chairs
  • separate sitting area
  • walk-in closet
  • in-room liquor.  Last I knew there were 4 large bottles of liquor with several wine selections including a welcome bottle of sparkling wine.  And of course, don’t forget the beer in the well-stocked mini-bar.
  • in-room snacks
  • complimentary 24-hr room service
  • Nespresso coffee machine
  • clothes steamer
  • necessary amenities are all included–digital safe, robes and slippers, bathroom toiletries are Bvlgari, large flat-screen TV, telephones, along with a room service box for delivery and dirty dishes.
  • each room includes one complimentary hydrotherapy circuit at the spa p/person p/stay.
  • complimentary laundry service of 4 articles p/room p/stay.

Instead of having any upgraded room categories with added amenities (Privilege Club, Excellence Club, etc.), all rooms have the same wonderful upgraded amenities you’d have to pay extra to access at other resorts.  Every guest has access to amenities with the exception of the Penthouse and Owner’s Suites which, beside having more space, includes unlimited hydrotherapy access.

Be aware that the Casita Suites will get you the closest to the beach.  So, if you are a beach person or must have a closer ocean view, then your choice should be a Casita Suite.  Each Casita guest room building has its own name–the absolute closest building to the beach is Casita Consentida, followed closely by Casita Hermosa.  These would be considered to have beachfront views.  Guest room categories with “beachfront” in their titles would most likely be in one of these Casita buildings.  These guest room categories would include the following:

  • Beachfront Two-Story Casita Suite With Plunge Pool.  This is exactly what it implies, a two-story suite with a large rooftop area which contains lots of comfy furniture including a daybed plus a large plunge pool which is basically a small pool (not a Jacuzzi) and these small pools have two waterfall jets which is a very nice touch and adds to the romantic ambiance.  While there is also a rooftop outdoor shower, there is no bathroom upstairs. There are only 4 of these suites and they have a total of 1,206 sq. feet.
  • Beachfront Casita Suite With Private Pool.  These ground floor suites have their own small private pool which is just steps away from the beach.  Pools in these suites offer a bit more privacy than the non-beachfront rooms with private pools; high walls separate the adjacent room, and mature hedges provide additional privacy, but since it is steps from the beach, beachgoers can potentially see what is happening on your terrace.  There are only 4 of these suites and they have a total of 1,098 sq. feet.

Here’s some info on the rest of the remaining room categories:

  • Jr. Suites.  There are two separate Jr. Suite categories–the regular Jr. Suite (Jr. Suite With Round Jacuzzi) and the Jr. Suite With Ocean View.  All Jr. Suites are located in buildings 1, 2, and 3; that means you will be located close to the lobby area.  Having an ocean view means you may have a peek-a-boo ocean view through the buildings located closer to the ocean.  Jr. Suites have 960 sq. feet–not bad for an entry level room category.  There are 31 regular Jr. Suites and 21 with Ocean View.
  • Swim-Ups.  These suites are located by buildings 2 and 3, again, closer to the lobby area.  Two of the resort’s 3 pools are used as swim-up pools; however, all resort guests can use all pools.  Be aware that swim-up suite terraces do not directly access the pools; instead, you will have your loungers set up in this space.  Terraces have little privacy; there is a stone pathway between the swim-up terrace and the pool which all guests can use to move around the space.  Also, keep in mind that there is no nearby bar (there is a nearby smoothie bar, but not a bar for alcoholic drinks)–you’d have to either visit the lobby bar or go to the beachfront pool area.  Or, you could always set up a small bar area right inside your room from your own in-room liquor; ice machines are close by room entry.  These suites are 1,098 sq. feet and there are only 14 of them.
  • Terrace Suite With Plunge Pool.  There are two types of Terrace Suites–the regular Terrace Suite With Plunge Pool and the same one only with an ocean view.  These suites are located in buildings 2 and 3, again closer to the lobby. I like the idea of this type of suite, the same inclusions as the Two-Story Casita Suite With Plunge Pool but without the stairs and rooftop area.  Instead, you walk out of your room right onto a huge deck space with your own daybed, outdoor shower, and plunge pool just like the two-story beachfront casita option.  Perfect for those who want the private pool with the waterfall jets but don’t want to deal with stairs to access those amenities.  These suites have 1,862 sq. feet and there are only 2 of them.
  • Casita Suite With Private Pool.  The pros–you will be in the Casita suite section which means you will be closer to the beach, plus you get your own small private pool.  The main con–you may have major walkways close to your terrace (these are ground floor suites) which means you have absolutely no terrace privacy.  If I booked this suite I’d want to see it first before I’d accept the room assignment.  You may get lucky.  These suites have 1,098 sq. feet and there are only 10 of them.
  • Two-Story Casita Suite With Plunge Pool.  The next best thing to having a beachfront location…you are still in the Casita section which means beach proximity, but you are not guaranteed a stellar view.  The best thing about this category is that you get the rooftop amenities and can easily access the beach.
  • Penthouse With Plunge Pool Ocean View.  Surprisingly, this suite isn’t located beachfront.  Instead, you can find them in buildings 1, 2, and 3 near the lobby.  This suite is larger than my home with 2,873 sq. feet of space.  It offers a master bedroom, separate living room, breakfast bar, half bathroom, kitchen amenities and full-sized refrigerator, along with a HUGE wraparound balcony that includes a plunge pool with waterfall jets, several daybeds, and additional furniture.  It comes with butler service, complimentary unlimited access to the hydrotherapy circuit at the spa, and a private beach dinner.  There are also daily treats included.  There are 4 of these suites.
  • Owner’s Suite.  Again, surprisingly this suite isn’t located beachfront either.  Instead, you can find the only Owner’s Suite in building 3, I believe.  This one is massive in size with 4,478 sq. feet and has 2 bedrooms–a master bedroom and the other with 2 beds and its own full bathroom, along with a very large living room area.  There is a large bar in the living room along with kitchen facilities that include a full-sized refrigerator.  There are several balcony areas which include a plunge pool that has waterfall jets, multiple daybeds, and various other furniture.  Amenities in this suite includes butler service, private beach dinner, unlimited hydrotherapy circuit at the spa, roundtrip airport transportation, barman service for 1 hr., iPad use, and in-suite check-in/out.

FYI:  I wouldn’t stay in either Casita Tierna or Casita Carinosa.  You would be behind La Isla restaurant which means your views would most likely be of the back of the restaurant or obstructed in some manner.

Well, hopefully this will help some of you choose which room category would best fit your vacation needs.  In case you want to know more about the specifics of this resort, there is a video below done by All Inclusive Reviews which is quite comprehensive and well done about Beloved Playa Mujeres.  Have fun planning your next vacation!
