This has definitely been a long time coming…Kimpton Tres Rios Riviera Maya is now taking reservations for stays starting Sept. 22, 2026.  It was originally slated to open early 2025, then the opening date got pushed to Aug. 2025, then Jan. 2026, now it recently got pushed to this Sept. date.  Will it really open?  Who’s to say, the only difference is that reservations are now possible so it’s probably a good bet they will open on that date.

This is actually a landmark for the Kimpton brand (part of IHG) which is typically known for its urban boutique hotels.  This is the brand’s first foray into the all-inclusive market so there is a lot of excitement about how this will play out.

In case you aren’t aware, this property used to be referred to as Hacienda Tres Rios.  What made this resort so desirable in the first place was the fact that it is located within the 326 acre ecological reserve of Tres Rios Ecopark.  It is the only nature park in the Yucatan Peninsula to include three ecosystems within the same acreage–jungle, mangrove forest, and coastal dunes.  Inside the park there are three freshwater rivers, 120 species of plants, 90 animal species, and multiple cenotes; this unique mixture has made this location a haven for travelers who want to experience the natural surroundings of the Riviera Maya while vacationing.  Swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking are natural extensions of a stay at this Ecopark’s location, so be prepared to be struck by the beauty of the Riviera Maya if you book this resort.
