I am sitting here in my hotel room at LAX trying to get into vacation mode (my flight to Cancun leaves first thing tomorrow morning) and thought blogging about a suite in Cancun would be the perfect opportunity to do so.  Today I am highlighting a Jr. Suite Ocean View room category at the adults-only Hilton Playa del Carmen.  Hilton is another new player in the all-inclusive resort market (following on the heels of Hyatt’s venture); Hilton took over THE Royal Playa del Carmen which was one of the more popular adults-only all-inclusives in the Riviera Maya.

This beachfront resort is only steps away from Playa del Carmen’s famous 5th Avenue, a mecca of shopping, dining, and entertainment; popular beach clubs are only a short stroll from 5th Avenue since it parallels the ocean.  The resort is upscale and attracts the more affluent traveler–guests love the service and the food here with its seven restaurants, five bars, 24-hr. availability to food and liquor including a dedicated lounge and complimentary room service.  Those who book oceanfront or better suite categories also have access to an exclusive restaurant onsite.

Suites here are relatively spacious and all come with a balcony or terrace.  Guests like the in-room Jacuzzi tub for two as well as the in-room liquor choices (rum, vodka, whiskey, and tequila).  The bathroom is also roomy and there are plenty of places to store one’s clothing and travel gear.
