Info On AMResorts….

Just a few tidbits about several AMResorts:

  • The new Dreams Vista resort will remained closed until Nov. 11 due to damage from hurricane Delta.
  • Now Emerald Cancun will reopen Oct. 29.
  • All other Cancun/Riviera Maya AMResorts are now open–this also includes Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita which wasn’t supposed to reopen until Nov.

Also, I just read that Secrets Capri has been dropped from the AMResorts brand.  The contract termination will go into effect Oct. 31, 2020–all reservations made at Secrets Capri will be honored through the end of October.  As of Nov. 1, 2020, all guests with existing reservations will be assigned to another resort under the AMResorts brand.  If you have a reservation at Secrets Capri which has you at the property beyond Nov. 1, 2020, contact the person or business with which you made the reservation (unless you don’t mind someone else deciding on where you will stay for your vacay).

If I hear any more about what will happen to this resort I will post that info.  From what I understand, Secrets Capri has long been a resort “underachiever”, according to the AMResorts brand; however, it could be that the actual owner of the resort simply wishes to sell the property.

  1. With only 1 swimming pool and a very small beach the Secrets Capri should have NEVER been labeled a “Secrets” property. It’s not a “underachiever” in my opinion. It should have been a Dreams or Now resort with a few kiddie areas added naturally. Secrets Capri, Secrets Silversands and Secrets Cozumel should all be dropped from the Secrets category until they are brought up to standards like Secrets Maroma and Akumal are.

  2. This property was actually the very first Secrets branded property. The owners Playa Hotels and Resorts are renovating the property and re-branding it to a higher end brand likely it will become a Hyatt Zilara.

  3. I”ve been to Secrets Capri twice in the last three years and would have booked there again this year if not for Covid-19. The Capri property is very easy to navigate. All amenities are close to the beach, beach close to the pool and dining. Our rooms were beautiful and the staff was great. No need for dinner reservations at any venue.
Many resorts are too large, some resorts you can’t see the beach from the pool or dining areas. I’ll miss this hotel and hope it reopens soon.

    • I’ve read that it will reopen under the Hyatt name (Playa Hotels and Resorts never really sold the property), but who knows. There is not much out there as far as info about this resort at the present time.
