Now Emerald Cancun used to be called Grand Oasis Sens–it is located on the east side of the “7” in the Hotel Zone. While some renovations were made, the resort itself looks very similar with cosmetic changes and re-naming of public spaces. The resort opened with its re-branded name in June 2019 and is fully operational at this point.
I’m posting two videos below to give a better idea of what the resort looks like at this point; the first video is the main pool area, while the second is an overall look at the resort and its amenities. Here’s the main pool.
Here’s the overall look of the resort. Would you stay here?
I like that they have handrail access to the pool and handrails on the stairs. An important feature that a lot of resorts overlook. If they want to attract an older population, resorts must pay attention to these details. Overall, it will be a resort that I will look at in the future
Janine: Yes, handrail access is a must regardless of the age group, even younger people may need the extra stability. I liked it when it was the Grand Oasis Sens, so I’m betting I will still like it. I’m glad they kept the pool waterfall swimup bar.
SHOCKING to me that they continue to build, renovate and rebrand resorts anywhere in the Caribbean with the state of the current sargassum situation! Guess they must be assuming the Sargassum will simply go away or get better one day ? I think many are underestimating the magnitude of the problem. This nonsense of placing seaweed barriers out in the ocean to protect beaches and collecting Sargassum by boat in the open ocean is pure garbage! It’s a big ass ocean ! I LOVE the Cancun/Riviera Maya area and hope something can be done for the future of the area but I am VERY skeptical. Not to mention the rise in crime due to desperate people trying to just survive during these hard times.
I worry about the turtles and other marine wildlife with the barrier-building going on….
