EC Club Swim-Up Suite at the New Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres–A Suite Review

If you are familiar with the Majestic brand or have stayed at their all-inclusive resorts in the DR (Dominican Republic), you know that this name is synonymous with attentiveness to customer needs (an average of 1.5 staff members p/room), 5-star resort amenities, exclusive areas for adults with an upgrade, and the pinnacle of guest vacation requests–not having to make dinner reservations at a la carte restaurants.

The Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres just opened its doors Nov. 19, 2019, and, to be expected, is experiencing some “soft opening” birth pangs (no spa or gym available yet, not all room categories available, in short, the expected delays of soft openings).  The resort is located north of the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres with a total of 579 rooms, of which 383 rooms are designated AO (adults-only).  This resort offers 12 pools (including separate swim-up pools at various guest room building blocks), 7 restaurants, 6 swim-up bars, and 12 bars/lounges, 4 of which are exclusive to EC upgraded guests.  The beach in Costa Mujeres is quite nice with moderate wave action, just don’t expect the vibrant blue colors of the Caribbean Sea area of Cancun’s Hotel Zone.

Check out the video below of the upgraded Elegance Club Swim-Up Suite.  Elegance Club rooms have in-room liquor, several swim-up bars designated only for them as well as a separate beach section.  This room reminds me of the Valentin Imperial Maya and Excellence Riviera Cancun swim-up rooms–there is a grassy area which separates the terrace from the swim-up pool, but this particular resort’s swim-up suite also offers its own Bali bed.

    • This is a brand new resort, I haven’t stayed here yet. Some swim-up suites, even at high-end resorts, don’t have hand rails at all, just steps, while some have one or two general entries which do have them. At the end of this video, there are steps with a handrail, but these steps are located on the other side of the pool. You may be able to access them by using a bridge across (if there is one) or having to walk around the pool to get to it, or there may be some steps with a handrail on the side on which the video was taken. I recently have seen more video of the resort in general and I’ve seen some swim-ups (not the upgraded suites with a Bali bed) have a handrail with several steps going down to the swim-up pool from the terrace.
