Another All-Inclusive Optional–Marriott Cancun Resort

Not many vacationers know about this (with maybe the exception of Marriott loyalty members), but Marriott does indeed have an all-inclusive optional resort right in Cancun’s Hotel Zone.  It used to be called CasaMagna, but now it’s just called Marriott Cancun Resort.  It’s located on the south side of JW Marriott Cancun (the resort with the awesome meandering pool), but Marriott Cancun Resort guests no longer have exchange privileges with its sister resort.

The Marriott Cancun recently renovated all 450 guest rooms and suites; surprisingly, this resort offers 13 guest room categories organized by preferred view type–the upgraded suites are named, however, for booking ease.  All rooms with a king bed also include a sofa bed; handicap accessible rooms are also available.

The pool area may be a trifle small for a resort of 450 rooms, but its large Jacuzzi complete with great ocean view plus two bars (including a swim-up bar) may make up for it.  The beach has white sand you can walk on for great distances in either direction, but as is typical of beaches in the Hotel Zone facing the Caribbean Sea you will get a lot of wave action, rip currents, and red flag beach days.  There is a combined beach bar (with swings for seats) and restaurant, so that is a definite plus!

Another star attraction at this resort is the sports bar–I’ve never seen so many flat screens in one resort sports bar, so you won’t miss any action in your favorite games while away on vacation.  The food here is good and the place is very popular, so plan in advance if you want to watch a specific sporting event.

Now for the potential bummers–you cannot eat at the Argentina steakhouse with the all-inclusive optional plan, while lobster and beef fillet dishes are an additional $15 at any restaurant.  The deli is also an additional charge–that means the ice cream offerings there aren’t free either. Some upgraded alcohol/liquor choices may also be an additional charge.

The all-inclusive optional package can either be found under Offers at the top right of the resort home webpage, or when booking your stay dates on the Marriott webpage it will be listed as the very last option, so you have to click “See More Packages”.

If you are a Marriott loyalty member, you can use your points here–it always helps to bring the price down a little (or you can get extra perks to enjoy) if you use or sign up for Marriott Bonvoy.

Take a few minutes to get a look at the resort; what do you think?  Would you book here?
