A Suite Review–PC Oceanfront Master Suite at Dreams Riviera Cancun

For those of you who requested more info on resorts/suites amenable to families, here’s another very popular family-friendly resort located north of Playa del Carmen.  It’s called Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa–anyone familiar with the Dreams name will know that these resorts are upscale properties geared towards families with younger children (the Explorer’s Club takes children as young as age 3).  Unlike some other family-friendly resorts, Dreams properties typically do a very good job of entertaining their youngest guests.  This particular resort offers a weekly beach camping adventure just for kids, big screen movies, separate kids theater for performances, sandcastle contests, rock climbing wall and splash pad at the Explorer’s Club, and the usual video games/table games.  Here’s a big plus for parents–the Explorer’s Club is open until 10 p.m. and will make sure your kids have dinner thus ensuring that parents get some “couple time” while on vacation

While this is a popular family-friendly resort, Dreams Riviera Cancun is also a very sought-after destination wedding venue.  As a result, couples who wish to vacation at this property will feel welcome even if they arrive with no children.  The property is well-laid out with easy accessibility to all areas within the resort from all guest room buildings.  The multiple pools are all within steps of one another, and the swim-up pool bar has a separate section for kids called “Kids Korner Beverages” which helps to solve the major complaint of many adults staying at a family-friendly resort (re. kids shouldn’t be allowed at the swim-up bar).  There are eight restaurants and a cafe, five regular bars, and a spa “bar”.  Complimentary room service is offered 24/7, and the only dinner reservation one needs to make is at the teppanyaki show tables at the Asian restaurant.

One unique feature about this resort is the octagonal shape of some guest suites.  Ocean views can be had more readily from one’s bed and suites seem more expansive and roomier with this unique configuration.

If you are looking for more room to move around while on vacation (traveling with or without children), the Preferred Club Oceanfront Master Suite may be just the room category for you.  It offers 1,206 sq. feet with superb ocean views and pocket doors for additional separation and privacy.  Here’s more of the suite’s amenities:

  • separate bedroom area with king bed
  • full bathroom with double sinks and jetted tub
  • separate living room with sofa bed and two arm chairs
  • dining area with table and four chairs
  • kitchen area with a full size refrigerator, wet bar, and microwave
  • balcony with Jacuzzi, full lounger, and table and chairs
  • Preferred Club amenities include private check-in/out, private lounge access, breakfast access at the Seaside Grill restaurant, private beach section, complimentary hydrotherapy circuit access at the spa, aromatherapy, and dedicated concierge.
