Tired of Summer Sargassum? Check Out This Resort…

Are you tired of brown ocean water during your summer vacations in the Riviera Maya and Cancun?  Don’t mind taking a ferry from Cancun to Isla Mujeres?  Then check out Mia Reef Isla Mujeres, a family-friendly all-inclusive resort on the “island of women” (Isla Mujeres’ literal translation).

Mia Reef is located next to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, Playa Norte.  Playa Norte is a popular day trip spot for Cancun vacationers–you can get some beach time, have a beachfront massage, enjoy great places to eat and drink, and have the beautiful turquoise waters off Playa Norte soothe your mind and soul.  If you are up for it, you can rent a golf cart on the island and go explore to your heart’s content as well.

Mia Reef has a unique spot on the island–you have to cross a walkable bridge from Isla Mujeres to a very small “island” located right on the northernmost point of Isla Mujeres.  Ocean views abound from the resort–wilder ocean waves on the east side and the much calmer ocean waves on the west side facing Cancun.  The resort offers the following amenities and features:

  • 164 rooms, suites, and villas
  • one swimming pool with a swim-up bar
  • lots of calm water ocean swimming available
  • 3 restaurants and a snack shack
  • 2 bars
  • free use of kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkeling equipment
  • gym
  • spa

Mia Reef typically doesn’t have a big problem with sargassum like most east-facing Cancun and Riviera Maya resorts because of its location.  If you are stuck having to take a summer vacation and still want your pristine Caribbean beach, check out this resort for a change of pace.
