I’m doing my suite review one day ahead of schedule because I have a full day planned during my last day in Cancun (I am currently finishing up my stay at Live Aqua). Today’s review is a lovely two-story beachfront casita at the incredible Beloved Playa Mujeres.
Beloved PM is an adults-only boutique resort with only 109 suites which, along with the general layout, gives guests the perception of seclusion and privacy. There are never long wait lines anywhere, which can be a common occurrence at larger resorts, and the vibe here is one of relaxation and serenity. You won’t find much of a party anywhere at anytime at this resort; however, the main pool’s afternoon atmosphere can be lively depending on who is at the swim-up bar at the time. While couples and honeymooners frequent this property, it can also be a good fit for solo travelers who are looking to get away from the daily grind. The spa is quite large for a boutique resort and it has special rooms for guests with physical disabilities. Guests will enjoy the three pools and adjacent Jacuzzis as well as the four restaurants and four bars.
The suite I’m reviewing is the Beachfront Two-Story Casita Suite with Plunge Pool. While all suites at this resort have an in-room Jacuzzi, this particular suite category has a fantastic location near to the beach and a second-story deck with outdoor shower, heated plunge pool with waterfall spouts, and double daybed. Downstairs, there is not only a fully-stocked mini-bar, but several full bottles of liquor and a bottle of wine to make your vacation a bit cheerier.

So for a first time all inclusive experience for a 15 year anniversary would this be the place to go? Also can you explain to me excellence club? I thought beloved plya Mujeres was also part of excellence. I was told by a friend to go to excellence plya Mujeres… can you help?
Renee: The Beloved PM is part of the Excellence Collection which includes all Excellence resorts, Finest Resorts (family-Friendly), and The Beloved, they are all owned and operated by the same resort “chain”. The Excellence Club is an upgrade at most of these resorts which typically includes private check-in/out, access to a private lounge with snacks and drinks, some have special dining experiences or exclusive restaurants, better room building locations, etc. I don’t believe The Beloved PM has an Excellence Club upgrade since it is a boutique resort, I know they do have an Excellence Anniversary Package (amenities common for anniversary guests within Excellence Collection resorts). Excellence Playa Mujeres is another resort entirely but it is actually located not too far from The Beloved. Both are located within the Playa Mujeres areas north of downtown Cancun/Cancun proper which is about 35-40 min. drive north of Cancun airport. Do you think you would enjoy a more lively or quiet romantic atmosphere for your anniversary? The Beloved is a lot more quiet, while Excellence PM (though not rowdy) will give you a more active and lively resort environment. If it’s your anniversary, I would definitely splurge a bit more and go for a nice suite category, and both the resorts will give you that. Can you handle two-story suites with a rooftop plunge pool? If it were a special anniversary for me, I would definitely book something like that or something closer to the beach. Let me know if I can be of further help.
