I just read from a Memories and Mojitos post that Secrets Maroma will be experiencing several renovation projects during 2026. These updates include the following:
- Convention Center renovation, May 9-Aug. 22. Resort impact is supposed to be minimal since the Center is located away from guest areas.
- Restaurant refreshes, Aug. 22-Nov. 30. Bordeaux and Portofino restaurants are targeted with getting new kitchens and a wine cellar. Dining is still supposed to be available, but I guess the cooking will be done in another restaurant kitchen?? Not sure how that’s going to work out for guests.
- El Patio, the Mexican restaurant, is supposed to be removed entirely.
- New Jungle Pool and Sugar Reef Bar, July 18-Nov. 30. Looks like the Jungle Pool is going to be relocated, so maybe some guests will be elated that this pool and the main pool won’t be so close together any more.
Updates aren’t supposed to greatly interfere with guest services.
How do you feel or what do you think about these changes? Let me know in the comments section below.
While the pool is rennovated, where will the swimming and swim up bar and games be? what are the dates for pool? How about the Italian and french restarants? when will they be rennovated, and during that time, will there be another restuarant location for them? Been to Maroma 8 times, and I will really miss restuarants if closed . We will be there end of Sept again along with our other friends for anniversaries and birthdays. What is the compensation?? I know the price is only going up, and with all the rennovations, I would have thought the price would lower.
we need to know quickly or switch our reservations as prices went sky high since last week. thanks.
I’m not sure about exactly where the new locations concerning the pool area will be nor do I know how it’s going to work out with kitchens being renovated and the restaurants still being available to use–that one is a mystery. As I mentioned in my response to your first post, you can get lots of info about this resort from people who also have been there many times or those who have the “in” about resort info–go to a Secrets Maroma fan page, there are lots of people willing and able to give you the most up to date info.
Is the main pool with swim up bar in the plans for rennovations this summer or fall??
Hi, last year while we were there for our 56 anniversary in Sept., I slipped and ended up in the hospital in the Riveiria, and $72,500.00 later, I am still hurting. My wrist was a real mess and operation was long. Not completely put in place properly. still doctoring. When Secrets Silversands was still open, I fell off a outdoor stage, not drunk either but pushed accidentally from someone talking with their arms. Broke my hip and femur, and got pins, rod, and plate put in last day of our stay so I went home in awful pain and could not move around.. they sent us a letter to apologize and gave us a 4 day 3 nite vacation to come back the next year, and we did . They lowered that stage too!! That was so nice of them. They of course then closed for a year and now are open as a Hyatt family friendly resort.
I did not hear anything back from Maroma after my incident and hospitalization in Sept. (on our 1st day of vacation,) from something again not my fault, but We would really appreciate some type of compensation for our come back this Sept. for our 77th anniversary. whatever you could do would be great, but I feel I deserve some type of compensation from Maroma. I know the notes are there from my accident. Lucky I was on drugs after my hospital stay, or I couldn’t have stood the pain. We are still working on payment of the bill with hospital. Thank you so very much. We love Maroma, or we would not be back. but would love some compensation please. Please make sure this is forwarded to the proper person. Brandon was our concierge and was a great help with Taxi to hospital. Syl
I have no direct relationship with this resort or any other resort for that matter, so unfortunately I can’t help you receive any compensation for what sounds like an awful accident at what should have been a wonderful stay. My only suggestion is that you can write to corporate connections to Secrets Maroma (they are now managed by Hyatt) and let them know of your situation.
How do I write to corporate connections of Secrets Maroma now managed by Hyatt??
