Rebranded Palmar Resort To Officially Open As Iberostar Selection…

This resort has changed names so frequently the last several years that it’s hard to keep up with what it’s currently being called as of today.  It started out as an Azul resort by Karisma for many years, changed its name to a lengthy Azul property I couldn’t for the life of me remember, then there was the guest fatality in the outdoor Jacuzzi via electrocution, then it was sold to Tafer as Palmar but that didn’t last long because Iberostar bought the property.  Why?  I have no idea, the Tafer resort rebranding only lasted several months.

The resort was honoring existing Palmar reservations while they finished renovations and only called themselves Selection Riviera Cancun, and now the final (hopefully) name will be Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun.  The Selection branding of Iberostar signifies an upper end family-friendly resort experience, so expect costs to be a bit higher for Iberostar pricing.  The opening date is set for Nov. 1, 2025.

Is anybody planning on going?  Let me know in the comments section below.

  1. Me and my wife are planning on going and have our reservations set for February 26′ to this Iberostar resort. It seems that whatever they are doing may finally be working at least the food, facilities, and staff from all accounts sounds like a major plus. If you or anyone has already stayed there since the re-opening, we would love to hear more as there just isn’t much information online. Thanks for this thread!
