During my most recent Mexico trip, I stayed at both TRS Yucatan and Catalonia Royal Tulum. While I have already posted my room video from TRS Yucatan, here’s the room video from the adults-only all-inclusive resort I stayed at when I first arrived in Mexico–CRT, as it is often called.
While the resort in general would probably receive a 3.5 star classification, the accommodation category I chose was very roomy and filled with nice amenities–something one would not see in a resort with this type of moderate rating. Upgraded Privileged rooms from my understanding are located throughout guest room buildings which line both sides of the main pathway. (The main pathway starts at the lobby and eventually winds up at the pool and beach areas). Building #2, the one I stayed in which was located close to the lobby, specifically housed upgraded Privileged guest rooms. I thought it was a very good location since I could easily walk to restaurants and bars as well as talk to lobby staff if I had a question. It took me approximately 10 min. to walk from my building to the pool–a great walk filled with shady mangroves, lots of coatis (coatimundis are prevalent at this resort), and benches where guests can sit and enjoy the peacefulness of their surroundings.
Privileged Deluxe accommodations are all renovated with roomy bathrooms, comfortable beds and seating area loungers, and select perks like the following:
- access to the excellent beachfront a la carte restaurant, Bloved.
- potential early check-in and late check-out based on availability (don’t count on it though).
- bathrobes
- large bathrooms with double sinks and rainforest showerheads.
- room service is included.
- dedicated beach area on the south side of the resort.
- turndown service.
- 10% discount at the spa on select spa services.
- 10% off romantic dinner on the beach.
- 10% discount in the on-site boutique and resort stores.
My room had two beach/pool towels upon check-in; the front desk informed me that these same towels must be returned to my room between the hours of 6-9 p.m. so that they could be exchanged for new ones by the turndown service crew. Towels not turned in are subject to a $30 fee….each. There are no towel cards at this resort, so treat them like gold.
I ordered room service the first night I was there since I checked-in rather late. Be aware that you can either phone in your order from your room, or you can access the room service menu from the QR code available in the lobby or on the ground floor of the guest room building you are in and place your order online. If you order online, you can only order two items at a time (each item being in a different food category). If you phone in your order, you can order as many items as you would like. The room service menu was quite tasty; I ordered on two separate occasions, once online and once from the room phone, and both orders took about 45 min. to arrive.
Overall I was very impressed with this room category. I would definitely stay in the same category since I liked the spaciousness and comfort level of the Privileged Deluxe. Using both my free Catalonia Rewards program points and the online sale when I booked I only paid about $161 p/night–a steal these days.
Take a look at my room video below and let me know what you think–would you stay in this room category?
If you stay in the “ Priveleged” category can you invite guests who are not in this category to dine with you in the Beloved restaurant?
Unfortunately no, guests wear a wristband here so you can’t get away with much
