Here’s another new all-inclusive resort to keep your eye on. Paradisus Playa Mujeres was supposed to open in 2019, then 2020, then 2021, now it is scheduled to open sometime in spring 2022. (Like the new Nickelodeon resort, I will believe it when I see it). At least they are giving hard hat tours, so that’s got to amount to something positive in terms of near completion. I believe it is located between Villa del Palmar and The Beloved in the Playa Mujeres beachfront area north of downtown Cancun. I parasailed in this area during my Aug. 2020 stay at Atelier Playa Mujeres; if you go to the thumbnail pics at the end of the blog post, it is the first thumbnail in the 5th row down. Just click on the thumbnail to get a larger picture of this resort.
This new Melia resort offers the following amenities:
- 498 guest room with 12 room categories
- adjacent marina
- family-friendly resort with adult-only areas within the resort
- 12 restaurants and 10 bars
- 3 pools
- spa and gym
- indoor theater
- convention center
And that’s about all I know of this resort. Maybe some travel agents out there can make a comment below with additional info…Below are two short videos; the first gives a brief look of indoor spaces and the views, while the second gives computer renderings.
What do you think? Are you planning on staying here?
When will the Paradisus Playa Mujeres by open to take reservations?
That is a very good question! It was supposed to open in spring 2022, but obviously that hasn’t happened. There is no way you can book it online on the resort website page, so that tells me there is no immediate opening planned. I read one article which said it was already open, but if that were the case you’d see more trip advisor reviews. If you belong to Facebook you can always go to paradisus by melia page and send them a PM, or post a question yourself. That FB page never mentions this resort in any posts and I went back to June to see if they had posted anything but nada. This may be one of those resorts where money and resources are being spent elsewhere in another opening, or else they ran into trouble with a government agency with some aspect of the property. If that is the case, it won’t open until they correct the problem.
