I actually wanted to find a video of how the new resorts are doing which are planning on opening within the next month, but as is typical of this area and new resort info there is not much out there–it’s like resort companies believe they are selling state secrets by giving away some teaser info.
So instead I found a drone video of one of the resorts I plan on visiting in July (as long as Quintana Roo doesn’t go “red” in its epidemiological light system). The Grand Palladium Riviera Maya mega-resort complex is composed of four separate resorts–GP Kantenah, Colonial, White Sand, and TRS Yucatan (adults-only). If you may remember, the Kantenah and Colonial lobbies were on fire last week…I used to avoid mega-resorts until I stayed at the Barcelo Riviera Maya complex and found out it’s not as difficult to get around as I initially thought. The trick, if you are walking during the day, is to put your things into a lockable beach beach (KYSS is my brand), and travel from pool to pool–you just take a swim and get a drink at a pool or swim-up bar when thirsty! If you lock your bag up you can swim at your leisure to cool down and not worry about whatever you’ve brought along.
I’m staying at the TRS Yucatan in a Jr. Suite with a private plunge pool, so I have access to the entire resort. Since this will be a solo trip I won’t have to worry about other travel companions having a good time while I explore and do my “blog thing”. I just read that the CHIC dinner show reopened at this resort; it will be interesting to see the difference between this resort’s show and the one I saw at TRS Coral in Costa Mujeres a couple of years ago.
Take a couple of minutes and see the drone video below of most of the resort–it looks intimidating but I’m up for it…
Have you stayed here?
Do you know which of the Grand Palladium resorts has the nicest rooms? Which building is located closest to the beach?
I stayed at the TRS Coral (adults-only part of Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres) in a Loft Suite, one of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in at an all-inclusive resort plus it was close to the beach due to TRS section. Grand Palladium Lost Suites are further from the beach, but this is actually a smaller resort and easier to get around than the Grand Palladium in the Riviera Maya.
Also wondering if you have been to the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres? Either one have a recent renovation or new building? We like to stay in newer hotels, but are also looking for a nice beach with good waves!
Yes, I stayed there when it first opened in a Loft Suite at TRS Coral. This resort has a decent beach with some wave action, it is certainly swimmable but not the turquoise blue color of Cancun’s Hotel Zone.
