Cancun Airport to Offer Antigen Testing

Vacationers who don’t have their negative antigen test results in hand can now get tested at the new mobile lab located at the Cancun airport.  There will be 10 “points” between Terminals 2, 3, and 4 for travelers to request the test; test results can be obtained within 30 minutes.  The cost will be 250 pesos (around $12.50).  If you get a positive test result, you will be quarantined at one of four nearby hotels.

On my visits during COVID, it has been advantageous to arrive at the airport three hours prior to departure, primarily due to the online COVID questionnaire which is checked right before entering security (scanning the QR code of this questionnaire adds to the hold up).  If you plan on using this mobile testing service, I would allow at least another hour (minimum) at the airport; time allowance may change depending on demand and the actual time it takes to receive test results (if the lab gets overwhelmed it may take more than 30 min. to get your result).  Time will tell on this one.

Do you think this will make the new US testing requirement easier for vacationers?  Would you wait to take your test at the airport?
