Bahia Principe Grand Tulum Reopens Following Major Renovations

For those of you interested in the Bahia Principe Riviera Maya mega-resort complex, the Tulum resort has reopened after a major renovation.  Many areas of the resort were changed, some cosmetically, others with major changes.  Here’s a sneak peek of the changes in real time, no computer generation in this video.

What do you think?  Have you stayed at this resort?  Would you stay here now that the renovations are done?

  1. No I would not stay here. Thanks for asking. All the huge resort complexes have the same problem (restaurant reservations!). Barcelo, Iberostar, Bahia, Paladium and many others. After staying at resorts that require no restaurant reservations and having the freedom to eat when and where you want I will NEVER go to a resort that requires reservations again.

    • There are many that have the same idea about dinner reservations. Like with so many things, there are certainly pros and cons to this as well; I can certainly appreciate deciding to go to dinner when you feel like it, but as I just experienced on my most recent vacation, I don’t appreciate having to wait 1+ hours to eat even when I feel ready to eat. It’s a toss up for me when all factors are considered.

  2. Longest I have ever waited is 30 minutes and now a days they give you a pager so you can get a drink and people watch or take a walk around until your pager lights up. I have had to wait even with a reservation before. Many resorts like the RIU and a few others have gone back to the reservations system during COVID. Hope after Covid they return to no reservations needed !?

    • The most I’ve had to wait with a reservation is 10 minutes. Sometimes I’ve gotten a pager, sometimes I’ve just been told to come back in a prescribed amount of time. I was just at Riu Palace Peninsula in August and they hadn’t gone back to reservations system yet so that must be a new thing since I’ve been there. Atelier also has a no reservation dining system but you can make reservations if you upgrade to Inspira, I loved that resort. This last trip I went to two Dreams resorts and no reservations at either. I guess it all depends on what makes you happy while vacationing.
