Another New Hyatt Resort To Open April 2024…

Hyatt continues its all-inclusive resort domination in Cancun and the Riviera Maya by adding a brand new resort complex in Cancun.  This complex is located on the lagoon side in Cancun’s Hotel Zone.  If you know where Iberostar Selection Cancun is located in the Hotel Zone, that’s where you will find this new resort complex–it’s just across Kukulcan Blvd. on Nichupté Lagoon.

The complex consists of an adults-only resort, Hyatt Vivid Grand Island, and Dreams Grand Island which is an adjacent family-friendly resort.  Hyatt Vivid Grand Island is accepting reservations from March 31, 2024 onward, while the Dreams Grand Island will most likely not open until sometime in 2025.

Here’s what I know about the properties themselves:

  • Hyatt Vivid Grand Island will have 400 rooms, while the new Dreams Grand Island will have 616 rooms.  Hyatt Vivid Grand Island will have an upgraded room option called Vantage Club.
  • Hyatt Vivid Grand Island will have one of the largest rooftop pools in Cancun
  • At this point in time it is expected that adults staying at Dreams will have access to the Hyatt Vivid Grand Island, while Hyatt Vivid Grand Island guests will have access to the adjacent Dreams property
  • Hyatt Vivid Grand Island will have 11 restaurants, 6 bars, 3 pools (the above pic looks like there will be 4 with the rooftop pool), and access to a nearby beach club (Ennea Beach Club I believe it is called), while the new Dreams property will have a minimum of 8 additional restaurants plus multiple bars.  Dreams Grand Island is supposed to have its own rooftop pool as well.
  • Both resorts will share a spa and gym
  • Hyatt Vivid Grand Island will have limited room service hours, but they will have special dining options like multiple food carts available

Well, what do you think?  Would you book either of these properties?  I have to admit I would hesitate since these resorts are located on the lagoon side, but that may not bother other travelers who are familiar with the quality of amenities at Hyatt properties.

  1. Looks like this may take it up a notch on the Adult only side. If the looks of the buildings reflects into to the modern day restaurant service and food this could be a great new option. I have stayed at most all adult only as well as family friendly resorts throughout Cancun and the Riviera Maya all the way down to Tulum over the last 28 years. I have noticed that older First Class Adult Only resorts that were at one time top of their game 5 star resorts, on menu and service on the food end and amenities and room conditions on the hotel end, and fallen to what I have experienced as now 3 star. looking forward to new options in this section of mexico

    • At times I think that some well established resorts are just resting on their older reputation and skating the rest of the way…with multiple new resorts opening every year in this part of Mexico one would think they would step up their game to continue staying in the competition but some obviously don’t. Sounds like this new Hyatt resort will have you as a future guest!
