I’ll admit, I don’t know much about this new resort, Palmaïa House of AïA, which opened Dec. 2019. I do know exactly where it’s located, though, because I walked down to this beach area Aug. 2019 when I stayed at Iberostar Tucan. This resort is located just south of Sandos Playacar in the gated community of Playacar. Obviously the resort wasn’t finished yet when I saw it from a distance, but from what I did observe it was on a pristine stretch of Playacar beach with many rooms having oceanfront views. That’s a great start in and of itself.
Palmaïa House of AïA is described as a family-friendly luxury wellness resort. It offers a jungle-located spa with an actual cenote in which to swim, classes in sync with the resort’s philosophy–tai chai, three types of yoga, meditation, Mayan ceremonies led by an in-house Shaman, and while not strictly vegan in its food offerings, stresses plant-based menu choices and Michelin-starred chefs. The resort attempts to be as “carbon neutral” as possible and leases its energy from solar panels/other renewable sources, offers no plastic bottles (you receive one container to refill with water as needed), and offers recycling opportunities.
Here’s a video shot by a recent guest. It shows many areas of the resort and explains other basic facts about it as well. Would you stay here?
