For those adults looking for a more high energy all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya, check out Breathless Riviera Cancun. It’s located about 15 min. south of the Cancun airport and consists of three resort sections–the Xcelerate “Party Zone”, Allure, and the more quiet Xhale section with upgraded amenities including its own pool and restaurant, Kibbeh. Breathless resorts are part of the AMResorts family (Secrets, Dreams, Now, and Sunscape resorts) which means a more upscale resort experience.
While the beach is not the absolute greatest, adult vacationers come here primarily to have more of a party experience. While the typical age range here is 30-45, the young at heart are fairly represented as well. The Xcelerate party zone has a giant Jacuzzi, beachfront pool with foam parties, DJ, dancers, and a see-through beachfront plexiglass panel in the pool so that beachgoers can see the party going on. The last I heard about the resort, this pool and Jacuzzi section was topless-optional, but this may have changed since 2016. There is a nightclub, beach bar with swing seats and wood-fired pizza, beach Bali beds, and fire pits built next to seating areas within some pools.
This resort has some of the nicest beachfront swimup suites I’ve seen at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun/Riviera Maya. The trick appears to be how to book one–the resort website doesn’t specifically mention an Xhale Master Swimup Suite Oceanfront, only Xhale Master Suite Oceanfront/ocean view rooms. Here’s why I like these swimup rooms:
- they’re swimup rooms, my favorite room category. Enough said.
- ocean views are fantastic from your swimup pool which is a rarity in this general room category.
- Master Suites have a separate bedroom and more shower privacy.
- full loungers and a terrace Jacuzzi.
- limited in-room liquors (small mini-bottles).
- I always enjoy the room service hideaways where you can stash your dishes and food you haven’t eaten from room service.
Here’s a video of this room category. What do you think? Would you stay here?
