As part of my latest solo trip to the Riviera Maya I stayed at Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen. This Wyndham is an adults-only resort with a convenient location to 5th Avenue, PDC’s clubs, and famous Mamita’s Beach Club. It also has an affordable price point for those looking for a very good all-inclusive at a reasonable price.
I stayed in a Jr. Suite Oceanfront room category, and when this resort states “oceanfront” they really mean oceanfront. My balcony was directly overlooking the Caribbean Sea–I could see the Cozumel ferry in the distance, the local fishing boats anchored just offshore, and the main pool area just south of my room.
The best of this room category: balcony view of course, large shower, lots of storage space, and convenient location to major resort amenities (I could walk a couple of minutes down the hallway, take a flight of stairs up, and walk a few more minutes to the rooftop pool and sushi restaurant, or take a flight of stairs down and be in the expansive lobby area or a few more steps out to the pool). The worst of this room category: in-room QR code for ordering room service didn’t work so I had to use the room phone to order, no accessible ice machines–you have to call room service for ice, housekeeping never replaced the empty shower gel container they provided in the shower even when I removed it and placed it on the bathroom counter–in front of the sink on my second try to get a replacement…go figure. But they did do an awesome job of cleaning my room, so I really don’t understand that issue. So, as a reminder, if you are going to book this resort, bring your own shower gel and shampoo because housekeeping may never replace empty containers in your bathroom.
Those are minor issues and I would certainly book this resort again if I ever needed an affordable resort option in Playa del Carmen–this place would be great for those who use Playa del Carmen as a home base with excursions in mind.
Take a look at my room video below–what do you think? Would you book this room category if you stayed here?
FYI: Check back in a couple of days for my full resort review of Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen.
