What Do You Think About Hyatt Vivid Grand Island?

Hyatt Vivid Grand Island resort is a high-end adults-only property which, surprisingly, isn’t located on the beach in Cancun’s Hotel Zone.  It’s located in an area between Nichupté Lagoon and the Caribbean Sea which means guests are more isolated from what Cancun has to offer–malls, world famous beaches, museums, and the 70 meter high ferris wheel by La Isla Mall just to name a few.  Since Grand Island is still being developed, guests of this resort in the future will be able to enjoy shopping opportunities and a marina.  FYI:  The almost identical building next to Hyatt Vivid is supposed to be a Dreams resort which is still under construction, but there is some info out that the delay has more to do with whether or not it will indeed be a Dreams resort or private residences.

While it’s not situated on the beach, the resort does offer a free shuttle service to their beach club, Ennea.  Ennea is quite lovely with three major deck areas, a restaurant, a snack bar, two bars, two small infinity pools which all vacationers can use, loungers and shade umbrellas, and round daybeds which are rented out starting at $150 USD p/day.  This includes bottle service (one bottle of liquor is the last I heard but double check on this), plus you get to order food from your rented daybed (other vacationers don’t get that privilege here).  Ennea is located on Playa Delfines which is one of the best beaches in the Hotel Zone, and it is next to the new Riu Ventura.  (Since I will be vacationing there the end of April I will walk by Ennea and check it out–since non-guests can purchase a Day Pass to this beach club I may just decide to spend an afternoon there to check it out personally!).

The other amenity to check out at this resort is the rooftop pool; access is only for upgraded Vantage Club guests, but it looks amazing.  From what I’ve read, however, this pool is not heated (one of the main pool sections is heated, however) and during the winter months it can be quite cold so the pool itself is underutilized during those months.  This pool is one of the first I’ve seen in this part of Mexico that has a swim-up bar, quite a feat with stellar views like this pool offers.  If you want to enjoy the view but aren’t upgraded to Vantage Club, there is an adjacent gym which has glass panels so your workout plans can have that extra motivation to go check it out yourself and maybe get a few reps in on one of the machines or try the treadmill as you daydream…

I’m strongly considering staying at this resort towards the end of 2026; it seems quite affordable for what you get, and the rooms look amazing–unless you want complete bathroom privacy, the room bathrooms at this resort only have partial privacy and I know that is a big deal for quite a few vacationers.

Below is a video of the resort done by Trips With Angie who does a really good job of explaining what this resort has to offer.  What do you think?  Would you go all the way to Cancun and stay at a resort that is not on the beach?  Let me know in the comments section below.
