Another Friday and another suite review….this time I’m taking a closer look at the Emerald Jr. Suite at the beautiful Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya.  This is an adults-only resort which is located north of Playa del Carmen–if you want to cab it to Playa at night for the clubs it will take approximately 15-25 min. depending on the traffic.

The Valentin has many return guests because of its service, ambiance, lovely grounds, massive main pool, and great food and drinks; my daughter and her husband have become one of its loyal following, and it is their “go-to” resort whenever they vacation in Cancun.  They will be going there again in February 2020 and staying in the Emerald Jr. Suite–what a perfect opportunity for me to take a closer look at their suite category and see what they will be experiencing!

Emerald Jr. Suites are situated oceanfront; there are six separate buildings (#9-#14)  with two floors apiece.  Ground floor suites offer terrace hammocks and direct beach access, while top floor suites have higher ceilings.  Even though these suites are oceanfront, they are situated back from the actual water with quite a bit of vegetation in between, so don’t expect ocean views to be stellar.  Also, buildings #9 and #10 are located on the far southern end of the resort–it will be further to go to resort amenities, your ocean views are likely to be more haphazard, and the beach/ocean at this section of the resort is more rocky which makes it necessary for guests to have to walk north for ocean access.  If you want to be closer to amenities and perhaps have a better chance at an ocean view, try and request buildings #13 or #14 (requests are never guaranteed, but the resort will try and grant them if room permits).

Here are the advantages of booking an Emerald Jr. Suite:

• best for beach lovers since it is an easy walk to get there
• in-suite Jacuzzi with beach/partial ocean views (be prepared for 45-60 min. for it to fill, however)
• if you are in buildings #13 or #14 it is an easy walk to the pools as well as the beach
• guaranteed king bed
• bidet included

Seriously, all of the suites at this resort are awesome in their own ways.  Choosing a room category is just a matter of where you want to be located at the resort.  If you book on the resort’s website, they are currently offering discounts for those who want to become registered as a “Web Fan”.
