To those of you unfamiliar with the new UNICO resort in the Riviera Maya which just opened March 2017, here’s an update as to what is open and what the resort offers.
Most of the resort is operational with the following exceptions:
- gift shop and other stores
- cigar bar has some limitations (waiting for a cigar roller)
- tennis and basketball courts are unfinished
- business center is not completed yet
- no non-motorized water sports equipment yet
- beach not finished, yet guests may lounge and enter the ocean (there are plans to get rid of some of the ocean entry rocks but no start/end date due to legalities)
- all guest room buildings should be fairly close to being done at this time
- poolside pizza oven
An additional amenity which the UNICO resort offers is the notion of “Unlimited Inclusions”. Since the resort is new, there are some questions as to what this term means and what are the specifics. Given the hotel brand’s emphasis of reflecting each location’s culture through the resort’s food, décor, and excursions, UNICO 20.87 offers what is called Unlimited Inclusions which is a cultural snapshot of what the Riviera Maya/Yucatan Peninsula has to offer–it includes unlimited select excursions, specific spa/beauty treatments, and golf (even private lessons), at a reduced rate of 20% of the full price. While this list is not comprehensive of the entire catalog of offered services within each category, it does list only those services which are being offered at a discount:
