It’s been a crazy week at work, but I’m not forgetting to make time for my Friday resort suite highlight. Today I’m taking a look at the Seafront Corner Suite at the luxurious, adults-only Iberostar Grand Paraiso. This resort is part of Iberostar’s “Grand” collection–five-star resorts with the highest level of amenities and service. This particular all-inclusive is located north of Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya and is part of a mega-resort (Iberostar Playa Paraiso) which consists of four additional resorts (Paraiso del Mar, Paraiso Beach, Paraiso Lindo, and Paraiso Maya). Guests of the Grand Paraiso have full access to the entire resort complex; those staying three or four nights also get a free round of golf at the adjoining golf course, while those staying five nights or more get two free rounds of golf plus complimentary snacks and drinks while playing.
The Iberostar Grand Paraiso offers some unique features for its guests–a salt water infinity pool, four heated Jacuzzis near the beach, a heated indoor pool with a retractable roof at the spa, and lovely domed ceilings with unique lighting fixtures. There are covered walkways for inclement weather, and guests can request private golf cart transportation to take them around the resort. Also, it is only a 30-minute walk south to famous Playa Maroma which has been rated as one of the best beaches in the world. This is a classy resort frequented by couples with discretionary income, but singles wanting to have a quiet retreat in style will love it here as well.
One of the better suites at this resort is the Seafront Corner Suite. Here’s what makes this suite unique:
- rooms are beachfront with an ocean view
- corner/end units so they offer more terrace space
- Jacuzzi on the balcony
- guaranteed king bed
- 710 sq. feet of space
There are similar suites on higher floors (Seafront Corner Superior Suites), but they are slightly smaller in space but have a more panoramic view. I like the ease of resort/beach access which this suite offers.
Below is a video of this room category–would you stay here?
Feel like I am looking at a funhouse mirror during a earthquake! We stayed at the Iberostar Maya several years back and loved the place but will never stay at a Iberostar property again because of the restaurant reservations system. Best thing the Riu properties did was do away with the required restaurant reservations. Iberostar needs to do the same !
Lots of people feel the same way about having to make dinner reservations while on vacation. What specifically did you like about the Maya when you stayed?
The swim up bar under a waterfall and the lazy river !
Now Emerald Cancun also has a swimup bar under a waterfall (but no lazy river–no room for that in Cancun!)
Not a fan of Cancun. We stayed at the Riu Palace Peninsula 2 years ago and loved the resort but not Cancun. We are Riviera Maya people.
Yes, sometimes Cancun can feel like a concrete jungle. If I’m going to the area without any intention of moving out of my lounger, Cancun will do. Next month I am starting at Iberostar Tucan for the jungle experience and then moving onto Live Aqua to check out their renovations. A little of both worlds.
