The newest blog post in my series of rooftop terrace suites highlights those at Finest Playa Mujeres, and if there are any similarities with my previous rooftop terrace suite post (re. Excellence Playa Mujeres 2-Story Terrace Suite With Plunge Pool), no one should be surprised since these two are “sister resorts”, or resorts owned by the same company.
Finest is next to Excellence Playa Mujeres in a gated community north of downtown Cancun. I stayed at Finest just after it opened, and it is one of my favorite all-inclusives in the area. Finest PM is a family-friendly luxury resort with two different sections–the adults-only upgraded Excellence Club section, and the larger Finest section with the ability to upgrade in this section as well. Two-story rooftop suites can be had in both the adults-only and the family-friendly sections (Finest Suites, Finest Club Suites, and Excellence Club Suites), and they are not significantly different from each other in terms of layout; only the view, in-room amenities, and extra perks are different when it comes to Club upgrades in this room category.
Rooftop terrace areas alone in these suites are 800 sq. feet; that is more square footage in just the rooftop space than many entire guest rooms have at various resorts in the area. Since this is a family-friendly resort with kids being able to stay in this suite category, the resort advises against young children staying in these rooms due to the stairs issue–the stairs can get slippery when wet and it can be a long way down on some very hard surfaces. That being said, the rooftop terrace offers great amenities all by itself:
- large plunge pool. In comparison to the plunge pool at Excellence PM next door, this one has no waterfall feature.
- sofa and two armchairs
- large padded daybed
- overhead shade structure so that daytime use of the terrace can be maximized
- lamp included just in case guests want to use the terrace during the evening
- shower feature
The bottom floor of the suite has some great amenities as well:
- large shower with rainfall showerhead
- automatic sensor lights in the bathroom area–no more hunting for the light switch if you have to use the bathroom during the night
- large sitting room area with lengthy L-shaped sofa bed
- room service box by the room entry
- padded daybeds on the bottom floor balcony
- Jacuzzi located between the living room seating area and the balcony
- even non-upgraded rooms offer multiple beers in the mini-bar
- upgraded rooms offer Bvlgari toiletries, one of my personal favorites when upgrading (Au The Vert or Green Tea is THE best)
