Planet Hollywood Cancun has finally opened, but it looks like it’s off to a slow start. There appears to be only one a la carte open (probably due to low occupancy), in-room liquor dispensers are empty, beers don’t appear to be in the mini-fridges yet (see video below), while I read that the spa, convention center, and one a la carte restaurant are still being finished.
Don’t expect to easily find info on the adults-only section, Adults Scene, on the website home page. You have to go to the upper left hand corner above the PH logo on the PHC website to where it says “Planet Hollywood Home”/”Our Hotels”. Click on “Our Hotels”, then click on Adults Scene–Cancun and you should then be redirected to the adults-only section info page. Rooms in the Adults Scene can be booked on this page. Looks like you can upgrade (Star Class) within the adults-only section as well as the family-friendly section which looks like it’s an equivalent to Preferred Club/Premium Club etc. upgrades at other resorts. Adults Scene check-in is way over on the south side of the property which means that adults-only rooms are on the south end of the resort along with two adults-only restaurants, an adults-only pool, and private beach section. This makes sense since all the water park fun is on the opposite side of the resort.
Here’s a video just posted of a swimout room, Star Class upgrade, at this new resort. It will give you an idea of what to expect room-wise. I really enjoy the cabanas/day beds which are part of this room category, but there’s not much privacy on the terrace. What do you think? Would you stay here? There’s a couple of booking incentives right now–lower introductory rates and up to two kids can stay free….
If you say in the family section, can you go to the adult section pools?
No, the adults-only section with its pool is only for adults who’ve paid extra to stay in this section. Bracelets typically inform staff who’s staying in what section, so you could always try and “slip in” to the pool area, but be aware that you may be asked to leave.
